Career Deloitte employee Jason Salzetti has been named chair and CEO of Deloitte Consulting, effective Jan. 27, 2025, succeeding Dan Helfrich who has served in the role since 2019.
In a Dec. 9 post on LinkedIn, Salzetti called Deloitte “a very special place” and wrote that he’s “excited to begin this next chapter” of his career.
I am excited to serve as the next Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Consulting, starting at the end of January.
When I began my career at Deloitte nearly 30 years ago, I never could have imagined the clients I have been privileged to serve or the experiences I have had across our organization. My focus has always been on putting our clients and people first, trusting and empowering those around me, leading with integrity, and learning continuously. These are pillars of my leadership philosophy that I will uphold in my new role.
Deloitte is a very special place—a collection of people who bring their best by putting their clients first, with an entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to making the lives of those we serve better. I feel deep gratitude for the mentors—both clients and Deloitte colleagues—who have helped me along the way, and I look forward to their continued support in the future.
I want to thank Dan Helfrich, our current Chair and CEO, for his exceptional captaining of our teams these last six years. We are a stronger and more dynamic organization because of his leadership, and we have a firm foundation to build on.
There will be more to come in the new year, and I’m excited to begin this next chapter working with our incredible team to advance our clients’ strategic priorities.
A graduate of UCLA, Salzetti joined Deloitte in July 1995 and is currently head of the Big Four accounting firm’s Government and Public Services practice, which serves the government at all levels, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations across the U.S. He has worked with clients in every industry across the organization, focusing on mission-centric and digital transformation projects, the firm said in a media release. Salzetti has also held numerous leadership roles, including serving on the Deloitte US board of directors.
“Jason is a visionary leader with a proven track record of achieving impactful results for our clients and fostering a culture of apprenticeship and growth for our professionals,” Deloitte US CEO Jason Girzadas said in a statement. “As we navigate a complex and dynamic environment, we are confident that Jason will drive Deloitte’s continued market leadership while bringing innovation and transformation capabilities to our clients to help position them for their success.”
Prior to his leadership role in the Government and Public Services practice, Salzetti led Deloitte’s integrated state, local and higher education practice. He also currently serves as the chair of the board of Children Now, a leading children’s advocacy nonprofit.
The consulting arm of Deloitte US has been the firm’s biggest revenue driver during its last three fiscal years. In FY 2024, Deloitte Consulting accounted for 54.2% of Deloitte US’s $33 billion in revenue, according to statistics the firm posted to its website. However, Deloitte Consulting’s U.S. revenue only grew by 0.7% in FY 2024, as Deloitte and other large U.S. accounting firms are trying to manage a slowdown in consulting work amid tougher economic conditions in key markets. Deloitte Consulting saw its revenue increase 17.8% and 25.5% in FY 2023 and FY 2022, respectively.
Helfrich has led Deloitte Consulting during that recent revenue boom. Girzadas called Helfrich an “insightful and dedicated leader” who brought “compassion and energy to the organization.”
“Dan successfully navigated our consulting team through a pandemic and a dynamic, ever-changing market, all while maintaining a strong focus on team culture and our clients’ success. He leaves this role with our consulting business in a position of strength,” Girzadas said.
