Grant Thornton LLP Names New Partners
Grant Thornton LLP recently named Edward Miller, CPA to audit partner and Steven Winter, CPA to tax partner in its New York office; Jacqueline Akerblom, CPA as the firm’s West region managing partner; and David Sites, CPA as International Tax Services partner and David Tyler as Healthcare Advisory Services principal in the firm’s Atlanta office. Miller has a variety of experience serving clients in the higher education and not-for-profit sectors. He is a member of Grant Thornton’s National Not-for-Profit Leadership Team and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from State University of New York at Albany.

Winter has both private and public company experience specializing in providing professional tax services to hedge funds, private equity funds, broker-dealers, asset managers, investment partnerships, and corporations. Winter received a master’s of business administration degree and a bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting from Pace University. 

Akerblom will be responsible for all operations, including client service and professional matters for eleven offices in the western United States and she will continue to lead the firm’s Southern California practice as the office managing partner. Akerblom received her bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting from the University of San Diego.

Sites has served a wide array of companies in various industries, including manufacturing, technology, and retail. His experience includes cross-border planning and structuring, repatriation planning, foreign tax credit planning, and industry-specific research on a wide variety of issues involving federal and international tax. Sites received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. 

Tyler has nearly twenty years of experience, primarily in the healthcare industry, and his areas of expertise include provider strategy, revenue cycle, managed care, finance, mergers and acquisitions and payer operations. He has performed various operational and financial projects for commercial and Medicare and Medicaid health plans, including affiliate company pricing analyses, operational improvement, and business intelligence and analytics assessments. He received his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Georgia.

Gross, Mendelsohn & Associates, P.A. Adds to Its Staff 
Gross, Mendelsohn & Associates, P.A. recently added Medley McGuire to its Technology Solutions Group as an account executive. McGuire graduated from University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree and has five years of experience in sales.

LMBC Names New Partner
LBMC recently named Scott A. Womack, ASA, CFFA to partner in LBMC’s Valuation Advisory, Litigation Support/Forensic Accounting and Business Transition Services. Womack experience includes estate planning attorneys in federal and state valuation matters; family law attorneys in divorce matters (including business valuation, forensic accounting, division of marital estate, etc.); and small business owners in the potential sale of their businesses. He graduated from Baylor University with his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
