Walter & Shuffain PC Announces New Shareholder
Walter & Shuffain PC recently announced Eric Gashin, CPA has become a shareholder in the accounting firm. Gashin received his master’s degree in business administration. He has been with Walter & Shuffain for 13 years and serves the real estate, technology software, life sciences and manufacturing industries.

Porte Brown Selects New Partner
Porte Brown LLC recently named Genevra Knight, CPA, CCIFP as partner in its firm. Knight provides tax consulting and accounting services for individuals and closely-held businesses. She has more than 14 years of experience and graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Knight is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the Federation of Woman Contractors. She also serves on the Palatine Chamber of Commerce.

CohnReznick Elects Several Partners and Principals
CohnReznick LLP recently announced the selection of three new partners and three new principals this year: Mike Celkis, CPA – partner; Michael Harlow, CPA – partner; Cristi Lewis, CPA – partner; Patricia McGarr, MAI, CRE, FRICS, CRA – principal; Nick Ratti – principal; and Brett Weal – principal.

Celkis will provide domestic tax, financial accounting and tax consulting services to individuals, corporations and partnerships. He received his Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Master’s degree in Accounting from Easter Michigan University.

Harlow has more than 10 years of expertise in public accounting in the real estate industry. He graduated from North Carolina State University with his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Master’s in Accounting.

Lewis has more than 15 years of public accounting experience working with construction contractors, commercial real estate, residential multifamily housing and governmental agencies. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

McGarr currently oversees CohnReznick Advisory Group’s valuation advisory services to the commercial real estate industry. She received her Bachelor’s degree in General Studies from North Park University. McGarr is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, the District of Columbia, New Jersey and California.

Ratti specializes in tax incented real estate transactions, providing tax compliance advice and syndication advisory services to his clients. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Providence College.

Weal currently serves publicly-held Fortune 500 companies, non-profit housing organizations and experienced real estate and renewable energy developers. He graduated from Emory University with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
