Top 50 accounting firm Cohen & Co. is about to complete its first M&A deal this year. The Cleveland, OH-based firm is acquiring Gordon Advisors, an accounting and business consulting firm located in Southeast Michigan, effective June 1.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
All Gordon Advisors client service team members, including five on the leadership team, are expected to join Cohen & Co. when the transaction closes. Gordon Advisors will remain in its current headquarters in Troy, MI, officials say.
Cohen & Co. made three M&A deals last year after receiving a strategic growth investment from private equity firm Lovell Minnick Partners in late 2024. Cohen & Co. acquired Cleveland-based Tax & Wealth Management Inc. in January 2025, Chicago-based Tassi and Co. in March 2025, and Armonk, NY-based Gioffre & Co. last August.

CEO Chris Bellamy said in a statement on May 13. “Our firms share a commitment to serving middle-market businesses and a passion for the community. Adding a location in Troy, a major employment and residential hub, also perfectly complements our continued investment in downtown Detroit, allowing us to be where our clients and employees want us to be.”
Jeff McMichael, a Detroit-based partner at Cohen & Co., added, “As a lifelong resident of Michigan, I am so pleased we are continuing to invest in this important and vibrant region.
