Top 20 accounting firm Cherry Bekaert has acquired Sansiveri, Kimball & Co., a Providence, RI-based accounting and advisory firm serving clients throughout Rhode Island and the New England region.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. As part of the transaction, more than 60 Sansiveri professionals will join Cherry Bekaert.
This is the Raleigh, NC-based firm’s fourth M&A deal in 2026. Cherry Bekaert also added Washington, D.C.-based Tarsus in January; Torrance, CA-based Richardson Kontogouris Emerson in February; and Houston-based Calvetti Ferguson in June.
Cherry Bekaert moved to an alternative practice structure after receiving private equity funding from Parthenon Capital in 2022.
As part of the transaction, Cherry Bekaert Advisory LLC will acquire Sansiveri’s nonattest assets while Cherry Bekaert LLP will acquire Sansiveri’s attest assets.
Cherry Bekaert says the acquisition expands its reach in key New England markets.

“This acquisition reflects our commitment to strategic growth through partnerships with firms that share our values, culture, and client-first mindset,” Michelle Thompson, CEO of Cherry Bekaert Advisory, said in a statement on Nov. 2. “Sansiveri has built an outstanding reputation based on trusted relationships and exceptional service. Together, we are strengthening our position in New England, expanding opportunities for our people, and enhancing our ability to deliver the industry-focused solutions and advisory capabilities our clients need to succeed.”
Founded in 1975, Sansiveri provides audit, accounting, tax, forensic, valuation, financial management, strategic planning, and business counsel services. It specializes in serving clients in the construction, real estate, manufacturing, nonprofit, healthcare, and professional services sectors.
“Joining Cherry Bekaert creates exciting opportunities for our clients and our people. We were seeking a partner that shares our commitment to relationships, service excellence, and client success. Cherry Bekaert’s culture, values, and vision for growth align closely with our own, making this a natural fit,” Jason DaPonte, managing partner of Sansiveri, said in a statement. “Together, we will be able to provide broader resources and capabilities while preserving the client experience and culture that have always been central to who we are.”
