As the year wraps up, your clients are probably thinking about bonuses, holiday plans, and taxes. That means it’s the perfect time for your accounting firm to stay top of mind.

Whether you’re reaching out to individuals or business owners, a thoughtful year-end marketing push can boost engagement, increase leads, and set you up for a strong tax season.

Mix Thing Up

Here’s how to mix traditional and modern marketing strategies, with a few creative twists.

1. Use Storytelling in Your Client Emails

Skip the dry tax alerts. Instead, share stories that humanize the tax process.

Here is an email example. Be sure to use a real-life scenario that relates to your target market.

Subject: “How one business saved $15,000 under the new OBBBA rules.”

Body:

Meet Stan, a small business owner who adjusted his depreciation strategy before the end of the year, reaping significant savings.

Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), many small businesses can again take advantage of 100% bonus depreciation for new equipment and vehicles.

If you’re planning purchases, now’s the time to act. Let’s review your options before December 31.

Tip: Include a “Book Now” or “Schedule A Call” button linked to your scheduling tool. Timing and convenience are everything.

2. Refresh Your Social Media with Short, Helpful Clips

Clients are scrolling fast. Capture their attention with short, visually branded tips. Video is the trend, but to stand out, think old school and consider a black-and-white photo with colored text, or an unexpected illustration to stop the doom scroll.

Content Ideas:

  • LinkedIn Post: “Did you know the OBBBA revived the car loan interest deduction for qualifying business vehicles? If you’re considering a purchase, track your mileage and interest for maximum deductions.”
  • Instagram Reel: A 30-second clip with your team sharing “3 Year-End Moves That Could Lower Your Tax Bill.” Use captions and cheerful background music.

Style Tip: Keep it conversational and relatable. Swap jargon for plain language and encourage followers to comment with questions. AI tools, like ChatGPT, Gemini, CoPilot, and Copy.ai can help you write clever posts with engaging calls-to-action.

3. Publish a Year-End Planning Blog Series

Longer-form content builds authority and boosts search engine optimization (SEO). Write a three- or four-part tax-related blog series (one post each week) and post it several times throughout November and December. You could also include a year-end tax planning checklist for businesses and individuals. Download the Year-End Tax Planning Checklist Canva template, which you can brand and distribute.

Topic Ideas:

  • “5 Smart Tax Moves Before December 31 (Including New OBBBA Opportunities)”
  • “What the OBBBA Means for Your Business: Tax-Saving Examples Enclosed”
  • “Your Year-End Financial Checklist: From Payroll to Deductions”

Each article should end with a strong call-to-action (CTA), such as “Download our 2025 Tax Planning Guide” or “Book your year-end consultation today.”

4. Host a “Tax Talk” Webinar or Live Q&A

Mix education with engagement and entertainment. A 30-minute webinar provides clients with a direct opportunity to connect with your tax team professionals.

Example Format:

  • Topic: “Year-End Tax Planning Under the OBBBA: What’s New and What Still Works”
  • Format: 20 minutes of insights, 10 minutes of live Q&A
  • Promotion: Send three reminder emails and share snippets from the session on LinkedIn afterward.

Repurpose Tip: Leverage key takeaways from the webinar in social media posts or create an infographic for future marketing efforts.

Need help preparing? Download the Tax Talk Marketing Kit, including:

  • Canva templates you can brand.
  • 10-slide presentation, tips, and on-slide copy.
  • 4-part email campaign sequence.
  • 2 LinkedIn promotional posts that you can customize.

5. Blend Print and Digital for Maximum Reach

Don’t underestimate the value of traditional touches, especially with local or long-term clients.

  • Printed postcard with “Top 3 Things to Do Before Year-End” that includes a QR code that links to your online booking form or scheduling tool.
  • Branded holiday cards that include a P.S. about your year-end tax review offer.

These personal touches complement your digital strategy and keep your firm visible in a warm, client-friendly way.

Combine Consistency, Value, and Personality

The most effective year-end marketing campaigns combine consistency, value, and personality. Whether you post weekly checklists, send practical tax-saving stories, or host a client-focused webinar, the key is to position your firm as the go-to guide during the busiest season.
