Global small business accounting platform Xero announced Thursday an expanded partnership with Chaney & Associates, a specialized accounting and financial advisory firm serving churches and faith-based nonprofits.

Xero says the enhanced integration centralizes core accounting, payroll, and cross-border payments into a unified workflow—giving nonprofit leaders real-time visibility and frictionless global money movement while enabling Chaney & Associates to scale its practice efficiently to support organizations operating worldwide.

A Xero partner since 2012, Roseville, CA-based Chaney & Associates delivers cloud accounting, payroll, bill pay, and fractional CFO advisory tailored specifically to the unique compliance and operational demands of faith-based organizations.

“Chaney & Associates is a strong example of how an accounting firm can build a future-forward practice by focusing on their clients’ unique needs and then using technology to scale their support efficiently,” Jonathan Meltzer, managing director, US at Xero, said in a statement on Nov. 5.

He added that Xero and Melio, a bill-pay solution company that Xero acquired a year ago, offers greater visibility into faith-based nonprofits’ financial performance and more control over how they manage payments across borders.

To support consistent growth of roughly 50 new client organizations each year, Chaney & Associates used Xero’s open API and Melio’s payment solution to enhance its proprietary, client-facing dashboard.

“Faith-based nonprofits frequently navigate unique operational challenges, including funding international mission teams, managing global outreach funds, and complying with distinct non-profit tax guidelines,” Xero said in a media release. “By unifying these functions into a single interface, Chaney & Associates eliminates fragmented financial systems and automates cross-border transactions for clients operating worldwide.

Xero provides the accounting foundation, and Melio connects bill payments within the Chaney & Associates financial system, said Steve Chaney, founder and president of Chaney & Associates.

“Together with our customized dashboards, proven technology playbook, and CPA-led advisory, they help us deliver a seamless approach to financial management for churches of every size—from startups to megachurches—giving leaders the insight and guidance to move their mission forward,” he said in a statement.
