Global HR and payroll solutions provider ADP announced new data and AI enhancements to its ADP SmartCompliance platform, which the company says will make it easier for HR, IT, and finance teams to manage complex compliance work.

SmartCompliance routes compliance workflows through a single, unified platform that connects a company’s HR, IT, and finance data. The platform is supported by patented, compliance-specific APIs powered by artificial intelligence and built on ADP’s policy intelligence engine that adapts to real-time context.

“Compliance is often managed as a mandatory, transactional obligation that is growing more complex every day. To stay on top of changes, organizations need an intelligent compliance system based on decades of institutional knowledge and expert human judgment,” Rob Hamilton, senior vice president at ADP Compliance Solutions, said in a statement on June 3. “ADP SmartCompliance acts as our clients’ compliance operating system, powered by AI and mirroring the worker’s lifecycle, to bring compliance workstreams together to help organizations proactively identify risk, uncover tangible opportunities, and respond with greater confidence.”

At the core of ADP SmartCompliance is a unified data model that allows compliance-related information to be collected across all workflows. This helps clients more easily expand compliance capabilities through faster implementation, stronger data security, and consistent information, the Roseland, NJ-based company says.

While purpose-built to work with ADP payroll and human capital management solutions, SmartCompliance also provides seamless connection with any HCM system.

SmartCompliance delivers AI-enabled insights, powered by ADP Assist, to evaluate compliance-related signals with intelligence at the worker level and across the entire employee lifecycle—from hire to retire. When risks or opportunities are detected, insights are generated directly in the platform, prompting users with the appropriate actions and helping them act with precision and confidence, ADP says.

In addition to identifying compliance risk, ADP SmartCompliance can help organizations uncover financial opportunities that siloed data can’t reveal. By analyzing events across the worker lifecycle—like hiring, pay data, or even training investments—the platform can surface potential eligibility for tax credits and other incentive programs tied to hiring patterns, job roles, and employee hours.

ADP SmartCompliance’s AI capabilities are available now to eligible clients and support both ADP and non-ADP HCM environments.
