How active are financial executives on social media? A Robert Half Management Resources survey found most CFOs are engaged, though a sizeable group remains detached.

Among those who are on social media, which networks are most popular, and what benefits do they reap from their efforts? According to the survey:

  • Seventy-seven percent of CFOs are at least somewhat active on social media, while nearly one in four (23%) say they aren’t active at all.
  • Facebook is the most popular social network for financial executives, used by nearly nine in 10 respondents (88%) active on social media, followed by LinkedIn (57%). Many CFOs also use Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
  • CFOs who engage on social media report experiencing a number of professional benefits, including connecting with contacts, growing their networks and identifying business opportunities.

“Executives not engaging on social media may want to ramp up their activity,” said Tim Hird, executive director of Robert Half Management Resources. “Your peers reap rewards from it, and there’s no reason you can’t, too. Get online, be accessible, and build your professional and company’s brands.”
