Schneider Downs Adds Senior Manager
Schneider Downs & Co. recently announced that James A. Sayre, CPA has joined the firm as senior manager of Tax Advisory Services. In his new role, Sayre will be responsible for the coordination and review of corporate, partnership and individual tax returns. He has more than 11 years of consulting and advisory experience working clients on income and franchise taxation. His specialties include public and privately-held businesses in the retail, manufacturing, technology, financial, construction and professional services industries. Sayre received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting from Youngstown State University.

RubinBrown Partner Receives 2017 Trailblazer Award
RubinBrown recently announced that Audrey Katcher, CPA, CISA, CITP received the 2017 University of Missouri – St. Louis Trailblazer award. The UMSL Trailblazer award recognizes women who are the first to occupy positions traditionally held by men, who were trailblazers in their fields or who have made noteworthy contributions to the university, their profession or both. 

Katcher has more than 25 years of experience, and currently serves as partner of RubinBrown’s Business Advisory Services Group. She is a contributing author of the guidance for testing security between companies and cyber risk management principals and methodology for the AICPA. Katcher led the development of global IT control methodology for Sarbanes Oxley and provided global leadership for Year 2000 and e-market initiatives. She serves on the AICPA Board of Examiners and the Trust Information Integrity Task Force, the Missouri Society of CPAs Board, the St. Louis Symphony Corporate Partners Steering Committee, and the St. Louis Club – House Committee. Katcher received her BSBA in accounting from UMSL.

Marks Paneth Adds New Tax Director
Marks Paneth LLP recently announced the addition of Frances McKenna as a tax director in the firm’s Nonprofit, Government and Healthcare Group. McKenna has 26 years of experience serving the IRS in its Tax Exempt & Government Entities Division in several high-level roles. She has overseen and made significant contributions to the Affordable Care Act, the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts, Federal Insurance Contributions Act, the Restriction of Political Campaign Intervention, Housing and Urban Development, state gaming regulators, and the National Research Program. 

Baker Newman Noyes Names Director
Baker Newman Noyes recently announced Dayton Benway as director of its healthcare consulting practice. In his new role, Benway will oversee operations and client development and continue to support the firm’s strategic growth in the healthcare sector. He specializes in hospital Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, rural health clinic Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, Medicare Audits and provider certifications. Benway was also recently elected to the national Chapter Advancement Team of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the HFMA’s Region One and as Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee of Lift360. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Southern Maine.

Goldstein Schechter Koch Announces Promotions
Goldstein Schechter Koch recently announced the promotions of Amanda Bonifay, CPA and Steven Holtz, CPA to partners and Beatriz Vazquez to principal. Bonifay has more than 13 years of public accounting and private business experience. She graduated from Georgia State University with her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting and finance and her Master of Professional Accountancy in financial accounting and reporting.

Vazquez has more than 20 years of public and private accounting experience. Her expertise includes individual, trusts, corporate and partnership tax filings, reviews and compilation engagements, accounting systems analysis, consulting and management advisory services, federal and state tax examinations, state and local taxation, and tax planning and strategy. She has worked with clients in the healthcare, manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, not-for-profit, professional service and real estate industries. Vazquez graduated from the University of Miami with her Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in Accounting.

Holtz has more than 24 years of experience in public accounting in the healthcare, retail, manufacturing, service, real estate development and telecommunications industries. He received his Bachelors of Science and Masters of Business of Administration in Accounting from the University of Miami.
