Friedman LLP Names New Partner
Friedman LLP recently announced that Michael Sacco, CPA has joined the firm as Partner. Sacco has more than 15 years of experience in various industries, including consumer products, apparel, manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, importing, real estate investment funds, and other financial services.

McGladrey Names New Chief Operating Officer 
McGladrey LLP recently announced that Bill Gorman, CPA will succeed Mike Kirley as the firm’s Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Gorman will oversee the firm’s five regions, as well as its business planning and strategy execution. He will also be responsible for the accounting industry services business and integrated marketing communications team. Gorman has more than 30 years of accounting experience. He graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Scheffel Boyle Manager Recognized by St. Louis Small Business Monthly
St. Louis Small Business Monthly recently recognized Howard Held, CPA as one of its 13 “Top Accountant” in the St. Louis region. Held is a manager at Scheffel Boyle, where he specializes in audit and tax services for governmental entities, nonprofit organizations and the agricultural industry. He is active in his local community and volunteers for a variety of causes. Held graduated from Bradley University with his Bachelor’s degree.

CohnReznick Partner Elected to Board of Cleantech San Diego
CohnReznick LLP recently announced that Office Managing Partner Mark Hooley, CPA was elected to the Board of Cleantech San Diego. Hooley’s financial expertise is in revenue recognition, complex financing transactions and business strategy in the renewable energy and cleantech sectors. He leads CohnReznick’s Renewable Energy Industry Practice and is active in the firm’s Technology and Life Sciences Industry Practice, where he provides assurance and consulting services to developers and owners, entrepreneurs, investors and lenders. Hooley received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland.

FGMK Joins TIAG Alliance of Accounting Firms
The International Accounting Group recently has welcomed FGMK as its newest independent member firm. The addition of FGMK aligns with TIAG’s North American expansion strategy. TIAG currently has 119 member firms and more than 150 additional partnerships through its affiliation with its sister alliance of independent law firms, TAGLaw and its strategic partnership group, TAG-SP.  

Wipfli Named National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2015 Champion
Wipfli LLP recently announced that the firm was named a 2015 Champion of National Cyber Security Awareness Month by the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Department of Homeland Security. As a Champion, Wipfli will join a global effort among colleges and universities, businesses, government agencies, associations, nonprofit organizations and individuals to promote online safety awareness.

Now in its 12th year, National Cyber Security Awareness Month is celebrated every October and is coordinated and led by the NCSA and the Department of Homeland Security. The goal is to ensure everyone has the resources needed to stay safer and more secure online.

Wipfli will conduct awareness and training webinars and publish thought leadership articles on cyber security, as well as launch a campaign to educate clients on things they can do to protect themselves and their families from online dangers. In addition, Wipfli maintains a cybersecurity blog and publishes two cybersecurity communications.

Windham Brannon Names New Managing Partner
Windham Brannon recently elected Heidi LaMarca, CPA as managing partner. In her new role, she will lead the firm’s continued strategic growth and new service offerings. LaMarca’s accounting and audit experience includes employee benefit plan services, employee benefit plan audits, Form 5500 filings and advisement, financial statement audits, reviews and compilations for a variety of industries and not-for-profit organizations. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Florida State University.

Intacct CTO Receives Executive of the Year Award
Intacct recently announced Aaron Harris, Chief Technology Officer, has been named Executive of the Year in the Cloud Computing/SaaS category of the CEO World Awards. Harris’ 20 years of high-tech engineering experience includes cloud computing, service oriented architecture, platform as a service, accounting and finance technology standards, business applications and software development strategies.

WeiserMazars Adds Consulting Principals and New Partner
WeiserMazars LLP recently added Todd A. Heckman and Jonathan Stomberger as principals in the Management Consulting and Health Care Consulting Practices, respectively, and Gregory K. Black, CPA as a partner in its Tax Practice. Heckman has more than 20 years of management consulting and business transformation experience in the health care, higher education and not-for-profit organizations.

Stomberger is a Certified Change Manager with more than 25 years of healthcare consulting experience with a concentration in Enterprise Transformation.

In his new role, Black will structure sophisticated wealth transfer plans and provide income, estate and gift tax return compliance services to clients. He has more than 15 years of accounting and estate planning experience.

Grant Thornton Expands Leadership Team
Grant Thornton LLP recently expanded its Office of Strategy Management leadership team with the additions of Jeanette Gorgas (chief strategy officer), David Boland, CPA (chief knowledge officer) and David Porges (community engagement director).

Gorgas will oversee the design, alignment and implementation of the firm’s strategy. Her expertise includes strategic planning and implementation, organizational effectiveness, change management and leadership development. Gorgas graduated with her master’s degree in management from London School of Economics and her bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and attended Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

Boland will lead the strategy and continued development of the firm’s formalized knowledge management organization. He has experience with social media collaboration and firm acquisitions, as well as global expansion and professional onboarding. Boland received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri.

Porges will oversee the firm’s community outreach and corporate social responsibility programs. He will develop the firm’s community engagement strategy and align it with the firm’s mission. His experience includes community engagement, corporate communications, government relations and community involvement. Porges graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with his bachelor’s degree in communications from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
