The Ohio Society of CPAs Names New Executive Board
The Ohio Society of CPAs announced their new Executive Board members and recognized several others at the OSCPA Annual Meeting and Business Excellence Symposium. Thomas Zaino, JD, CPA, managing member at Zaino Hall & Farrin LLC, was elected 2015-2016 chair of the OSCPA Executive Board. Other members of the 2015-2016 Executive Board include: William Chorba III, CPA, CGMA, CFO of NineSigma Inc. as new chair-elect; Mark Van Benschoten, CPA, principal, Rea & Associates, Inc. as immediate past chair; Robert Bosak, CPA, chief financial officer, Kaplan Trucking Company, as vice chair, finance; Russell Meyer, CPA, CMA, CFO, White Castle System, Inc.; Jamie Menges, CPA, CFP, principal, PDS Planning, Inc.; Thomas Seiler, CPA, JD, Ph.D., CGMA, dean, Ross College of Business, Franklin University; Marie Brilmyer, CPA, audit senior director, BDO USA, LLP; Donald Mellott, Jr., CPA, managing partner, Mellott & Mellott PLL; and John Venturella, CPA, JD, shareholder-in-charge, Clark Schaefer Hackett & Co.

Honorees at the event included: Jan Culver, CPA, CGMA of Harlow & Ohmer LLC – Gold Medal for Meritorious Service to the Accounting Profession; Linda Zucca, Ph.D., CPA – Outstanding Ohio Accounting Educator; and Amy Stahl, CPA (inactive), MBA – Outstanding Ohio Two-Year Accounting Educator award.

Rodman & Rodman P.C. Adds New Staff Accountant
Rodman & Rodman, P.C. recently announced the addition of Marc Scribi as Staff Accountant. In his new role, Scribi will be responsible for tax preparation and financial statement reviews.  He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore School of Business and Economics. Scribi is a candidate for an MBA from Suffolk University Sawyer Business School.

PwC Names New Managing Director
PricewaterhouseCoopers recently announced that David Thelander has been appointed Risk Assurance Managing Director in PwC’s Risk & Compliance, Systems & Analytics practice. Thelander has more than 25 years of experience in financial services risk, governance, risk management and compliance. His focus is on constructing risk and compliance technology-based services in the region.

Thomson Reuters Executive is New President-Elect of the American Payroll Association
Thomson Reuters recently announced that Jim Paille, director of operations for myPay Solutions, is the new president-elect for the American Payroll Association. Paille was elected to a three-year term. He has been an APA member since the organization was established in 1982 and has served on the APA Board of Directors for more than 10 years.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch Names Global Commercial Banking Senior Client Manager
Bank of America Merrill Lynch recently named Stacy Brandon as its senior vice president and senior client manager. In her new role, Brandon will build client strategies for middle market companies with annual revenues of $50 million to $2 billion. She is board chairman and chairman of the board development committee of the Upstate Chapter of the American Red Cross. Brandon is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina and was a member of Leadership Greenville, Class 23. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in finance and economics from the University of South Carolina.

CohnReznick Partners Honored
CohnReznick LLP recently announced that two of its partners were recognized. Peter Epp, CPA received the 29th Annual Significant Contribution to Ambulatory Care at the New York Association of Ambulatory Care Annual Awards Gala and Melissa Boone, CPA, was recently selected as one of Mecklenburg Times’ “50 Most Influential Women” for 2015. Epp received the award for his role as an active educator and financial advisor to many ambulatory care providers in New York, co-leading services dedicated to community health centers within the firm’s Healthcare Industry Practice. Boone was honored for her contribution to both CohnReznick and the Charlotte, NC. community.

CohnReznick LLP recently announced it has created a collaborative market solution with Frier & Levitt and CSI Specialty Group to provide a comprehensive array of services tailored to the specialty pharmacy industry. Through the collaboration, CohnReznick, Frier & Levitt, and CSI Specialty Group will provide joint services, educational programs and guidance to the specialty pharmacy industry, as well as co-market services to their respective client bases.

CohnReznick Welcomes New State and Local Tax Principal
CohnReznick recently added Eddie Delgado as a principal in its State and Local Tax Practice on the West Coast. Delgado has more than 20 years of experience assisting businesses with state and local tax matters and provides tax planning, return review, assistance with technical matters and counseling to a variety of clients. He has also authored articles for the Journal of State Taxation, is a frequent speaker on state tax matters and has taught SALT and tax research courses for the Master of Taxation program at Cal State Fullerton. Delgado received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and his Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.

CFMA Maryland Names New President
CohnReznick LLP recently announced that Ryan Henigan, CPA, a partner in the firm’s Baltimore office, has been named President of the Construction Financial Management Association’s Maryland chapter. Henigan has served on the CFMA Maryland Board for nine years. At CohnReznick, he heads up the Construction Industry Practice and has 17 years of experience providing audit and management advisory services to national and local real estate developers, homebuilders, general contractors and sub-contractors. He graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s University.

CAQ Adds New Senior Director of Strategy
The Center for Audit Quality recently announced that Stacie Thomas Morales will join them as Senior Director of Strategy. In her new role, Morales will focus on helping the CAQ better understand, coordinate, and strategically align the profession’s U.S. policy positions with those in other jurisdictions. Morales’ experience includes development of global positions on public policy matters impacting the profession, financial reporting and insurance matters and development and passage of the landmark Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Federal Terrorism Risk Insurance Act. She received a JD from George Mason University School of Law, as well as an MA in economics and a BA in international business from Clemson University.  

KPMG Elects Senior Leadership
KPMG recently announced the election of Lynne Doughtie, CPA as its U.S. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and P. Scott Ozanus, CPA as Deputy Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, a position he has held since 2012. Doughtie will serve a five-year term and currently leads KPMG’s Advisory business. She has more than 30 years of experience, having served in numerous national, regional and global leadership roles. She has overseen the expansion of KPMG’s capabilities in information security, strategy, digital/mobile and transformation. Doughtie graduated from Virginia Tech with her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Ozanus has played a critical role in the development and execution of the firm’s strategic initiatives and will continue to lead the firm’s efforts to strengthen existing services and expand into new and innovative areas through investments, alliances and acquisitions. He received his B.B.A. degree in accounting from Texas A&M University.

TIAG Launches New Website
TIAG® recently unveiled its new website, www.TIAGnet.com. The new website was part of a yearlong project to launch new websites for TIAG and its sister alliances, TAGLaw® and TAG-SP™. Collectively, the groups are known as The TAG Alliances™. New features of the websites include a “Find a Member” feature on the home page; social media integration; revamped member profiles; improved and redesigned resource center; and integration between the three websites.

Mazars Group Adds German Firm
WeiserMazars LLP recently announced that Roever Broenner Susat has joined Mazars as a member firm in Germany. Roever Broenner Susat has 68 Partners and 1000 professionals located in 12 offices around Germany. Dr. Christoph Regierer and Gregor Kunz at Roever Broenner Susat will join the Mazars Group Executive Board and Group Governance Council, respectively.

Suffolk County Community College Recognizes Local CFO
Suffolk County Community College recently honored Gregory S. Garritano, CPA, CGMA, founder of G.S. Garritano & Associates and CFO of The Lauro Group, at their 2015 Salute to Excellence Gala, Celebrating Financial Leaders Making a Difference. Garritano was recognized for more than 30 years of service to Long Island and his firm’s Diamond CFO Services, which are offered to local corporations.

Grant Thornton Grows Strategic Federal Tax Services Practice
Grant Thornton LLP recently announced that Liz Wallace has joined as a managing director in the firm’s Strategic Federal Tax Services practice. Wallace previously served at KPMG LLP as a senior manager and leader of the Metro New York Commercial Tax Credits practice. She has developed new credit service offerings, increased practice revenue, developed a three-year growth plan and directed and conducted new business development activities, initiatives and service offerings. Wallace is a licensed attorney in New York and she received a master’s of laws degree in taxation from New York University, a juris doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School, and masters and bachelor’s degrees in accounting from Long Island University.
