Police have filed multiple identity theft charges against a High Point, North Carolina, woman who worked as a payroll clerk.
Bond was set at $1 million for Brenda Yow Schmidt, 47. The charges allege she accessed other employees’ identifying information at her employer, police said. Investigators arrested Schmidt at her home Jan. 16.
She faces seven charges of attempting to obtain property by false pretense, three charges of identity theft and one charge of obtaining property under false pretense.
Schmidt is being held in the Guilford County jail in High Point. More charges are expected, detectives said.
