From the September 2005 Review of Mid-Range
Accounting Software

Each of the products reviewed in this section provides the financial basics
of GL, AP and AR, but each also offers varying degrees of
support for other aspects of business management. For businesses such as retailers
and wholesalers, a strong inventory module with the ability to handle complex
pricing matrixes and possibly multiple warehouses may be necessary. For manufacturing
concerns, tracking inventory is also important, but the nature of the business
also demands workflow process controls to maximize efficiency of operations.
Retail outlets may need point-of- sale hardware; construction and services operations
may need job costing capabilities.

There is no “one-size- fits-all” solution to the needs of a growing
business. Instead, these entrepreneurs and the financial professionals who serve
them must find the system that most closely meets the business’ financial
and procedural needs.
