CohnReznick Principal Recognized; Firm Welcomes New Partner
CohnReznick LLP recently announced that the National Housing and Rehabilitation Association presented Fred Copeman, Esq., Principal and National Director of Tax Credit Investment Services with the 2016 Affordable Housing Vision Award for his stewardship and expansion of affordable housing opportunities for low-income families nationwide. Copeman has extensive knowledge in low-income housing, historic rehabilitation and renewable energy tax credit programs. He has co-authored twelve studies of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, and his most recent study is the first that measures operating expenses on affordable housing tax credit properties.  

The firm also announced the addition of Gregory Chin, CPA as a partner in CohnReznick Advisory’s Transactional Advisory Services Practice. Chin has more than 27 years of finance and auditing experience, managing transactional advisory services practices for national and global firms. His expertise includes conducting financial due diligence engagements in the technology, software, pharmaceutical, consumer product, chemical, manufacturing and retail industries, as well as liquidity management, cash flow forecasting and financial projections. Chin received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting from Boston University School of Management and his Master of Science, Finance from Boston College Carroll School of Management.

AccountingDepartment.com recently announced the addition of David Brazda as the leader of their newly launched dedicated bookkeeping services division supporting CPAs and outsourced CFOs. Brazda will oversee channel development and strategy for the new division. He has more than 20 years of accounting experience and expertise as it relates to CPA and outsourced CFO support.

CAQ Governing Board Names New Member
The Center for Audit Quality’s Governing Board recently welcomed Brian P. Anderson, CPA as its newest member. Anderson is a member of the Board of W.W. Grainger, Inc. and previously served as Lead Director and Audit Committee Chair. He has also chaired the audit committees of PulteGroup, Inc. and James Hardie Industries plc. Anderson is also the Chairman of the Nemours Foundation and served as Non-Executive Independent Chairman of A. M. Castle & Company. He has also held several senior executive roles. Anderson received his BBA from Howard University and MBA in Finance and Accounting from Indiana University.

Plante Moran Names New Managing Partner
Plante Moran has announced the appointment of Jim Proppe as managing partner. In his new role, Proppe will focus on anticipating and meeting client needs, as well as expanding the firm’s service offerings, investing in top talent and helping the firm to compete in a digital world.

He has more than 12 years of experience as a group managing partner. Proppe graduated from the University of Michigan.

NYSSCPA Leader Named President of CPA Execs Association
New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants recently announced that Joanne S. Barry, executive director and CEO, has been appointed the 2016-2017 president of the Certified Public Accountants Society Executives Association. Barry has been recognized multiple times for her leadership in the CPA profession and serves on the accounting and taxation boards for Montclair State University and St. John’s University.

WeiserMazars LLP Adds New Partner
WeiserMazars LLP recently announced that James Wienclaw, CPA has joined the firm as a Partner in its Manufacturing & Distribution Group. Wienclaw has nearly 20 years of diversified public accounting and tax experience, working in the manufacturing and wholesale distribution, technology and commercial real estate industries. He graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Taxation. 

Rehmann Staff Members Earn Promotion, New Credentials; New Member Added
Rehmann recently announced that: Michele Scharg, CPA has joined the firm as a senior manager in its accounting, consulting and tax department; Andrew Rose, CPA, tax principal, has earned the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional certification; and Beth Dunckel, CPA has been promoted to senior manager.

Scharg has more than 30 years of public accounting experience. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Michigan.

Rose has nearly two decades of experience providing tailored business solutions for clients and working with corporations, partnerships, like-kind exchanges and other areas of tax. He graduate from Saginaw Valley State University with his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting.

In her new role, Dunckel will provide clients with business, accounting and consulting services to help them achieve success and profitability. She graduated from Michigan State University with her bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in professional accounting.

Dallas-Based Public Accounting Firm Travis Wolff Joins Armanino
Armanino LLP recently announced an agreement with Travis Wolff, a public accounting firm in Dallas. The combined firm will operate as Armanino LLP and continue to operate in Dallas, while also serving clients from its other existing offices. Both firms offer core audit and tax services. The addition of Travis Wolff will strengthen Armanino’s high net worth individual practice. Armanino will also bring expanded service offerings in audit and tax, as well as a consulting practice and business management services (including family office) to Travis Wolff’s current client base.
