BKR Awards $12,000 in Accounting Scholarships

BKR International recently presented annual scholarship awards valued at $3,000 per student ($12,000 total) to honor seven accounting students around the world for their exemplary academic achievements.

This distinctive program, unique among global accounting associations, helps students cover the costs of finishing their degrees and obtaining a professional accounting credential in their home country. Since its inception in 2012, the BKR International scholarship program has awarded more than $90,000 to 36 students in 20 countries.

“These students are the industry’s future, and we are proud to support them,” said Howard Rosen, BKR Worldwide CEO.

Scholarship recipients are nominated by BKR member firms in each of three designated regions. Nominees are reviewed and approved by the Worldwide Board.

This year’s scholarship winners are:

  • Hiroko Kubo (Nominated by Gumbiner Savett, Inc., Los Angeles, USA) — BKR Worldwide Meeting
  • Jessica McGarry (Nominated by Lohn Caulder, LLP, Vancouver, CA) — BKR Americas Regional Meeting
  • Francisca Ribeiro, Daniel Santos,  Andreia Sousa, and Sofia Gonçalves (Nominated by Esteves, Pinho & Associados, SROC, Lda, Porto, Portugal) — BKR Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA) Regional Meeting
  • Mansi Malde (Nominated by T R Chadha & Co. LLP, New Delhi, India) — BKR Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting
