Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

This is the Canfield, OH-based firm’s second M&A deal in 2026 and its first since securing an outside investment from H.I.G. Capital in August. In May, HBK added Brimmer, Burek and Keelan, a Tampa, FL-based CPA firm.

HBK says the combination with Curchin expands its expertise in the Northeast while deepening its capabilities in credit unions, construction, manufacturing, and nonprofits. Curchin’s clients gain access to wealth advisory services through HBKS Wealth Advisors; technology solutions through Vertilocity, the accounting firm’s technology advisory practice; and HBK’s specialized practice groups.

“Curchin exemplifies our approach to growth,” HBK CEO Tom Angelo said in a statement on Oct. 19. “We add firms that share our values and strengthen our ability to serve clients more comprehensively. Curchin’s expertise and market presence are a natural fit for our vision, and we’re excited to welcome their team to HBK.”

Founded in 1955, Curchin serves mid-market clients across construction, credit unions, manufacturing, nonprofits, and other key sectors.

Led by Lynn Conover and Carolyn Giunco Kvalo, the Curchin team will operate from HBK’s office in Holmdel, NJ, beginning on Nov. 16.

“Joining HBK gives us the resources to serve our clients even more comprehensively,” Conover, who is now a principal at HBK, said in a statement. “Our clients will continue working with the advisors they know and trust, with access to a significantly expanded platform of expertise and capabilities.”

“Our clients are at the center of everything we do, and joining HBK lets us serve them better. We’re not changing who we are. We’re expanding what we can offer,” added Giunco Kvalo, also now a principal at HBK, in a statement.
