In a Feb. 5 blog post updating customers on what’s happening with Intuit Accountant Suite, the ProAdvisor Program, and QuickBooks Online Accountant, Intuit said it will be replacing QuickBooks Online Accountant with Intuit Accountant Suite.

“Firms using QuickBooks Online Accountant will be switched to the free Core plan starting between the summer and December 2026. We will not switch QuickBooks Online Accountant accounts into the Accelerate plan unless their primary admin has opted in to do so,” wrote Kim Amsbaugh, who manages the Intuit Accountant Segment public relations, social, and influencer programs.

“We will provide more details in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition to Intuit Accountant Suite,” she continued. “Our priority is to create a seamless, positive experience for QuickBooks Online Accountant users and minimize downtown.”

QuickBooks Online Accountant will officially be discontinued in December.

Last October, Intuit announced the launch of Intuit Accountant Suite, an AI-native platform developed specifically to manage your firm, clients, and team in a single, unified environment. Intuit Accountant Suite has two plans, Core and Accelerate. Both the Core and Accelerate (in beta) plans are currently free, Amsbaugh noted. Customers can also add the Books Close feature (in beta) to both plans at no cost.

“The Core plan includes key functionality available today in QuickBooks Online Accountant, with a modern design and navigation. We’re committed to continuing to offer firms with QuickBooks clients access to the Core plan at no cost,” she wrote. “The Accelerate plan and Books Close add-on feature will transition to a paid subscription starting on May 1, 2026. The Core plan will remain free. We will not switch firms onto the Accelerate plan unless they’ve opted in to do so.”

According to the blog post, pricing for the Accelerate plan starting May 1 is $149 per month. Access to Books Close for the Core and Accelerate plans require the purchase of Books Close add-on.

Pricing for Books Close goes into effect on May 1 as an add-on for the Core and Accelerate plans. Books Close pricing is based on client’s onboarded to Books Close:

  • $8 per client per month for firms with up to 50 clients.
  • $6 per client per month for firms with over 50 clients.

During the Intuit Connect 2025 event last October, the Mountain View, CA-based company announced that it will be launching a new global partner program for accounting professionals and firms. The new global program, integrated into Intuit Accountant Suite, will feature a tiered structure with benefits focused on helping accountants grow their firm, efficiently deliver client services, and upskill their staff, the blog post states.

The current ProAdvisor Program will be replaced by this new global program in January 2027.

Intuit says it will spend time addressing questions about these changes, as well as share what’s new across the Intuit platform, including Intuit Accountant Suite, Intuit Enterprise Suite, and QuickBooks Online, during Intuit Connect ON from 9 to 11 a.m. PT on Feb. 24.
