Gusto announced this week the launch of its app inside the new ChatGPT app directory, bringing AI-powered payroll directly into the everyday workflows of small businesses.
Small businesses are now able to run payroll directly within a ChatGPT conversation.
“Small business owners and admins can now connect their Gusto account through the Gusto app in ChatGPT and interact with real payroll and business data using natural language: ask questions, analyze trends and get summaries directly in a ChatGPT conversation, without exporting spreadsheets or running manual reports,” Chris Cosgrove, chief product officer at Gusto, said in a statement.
“For select Gusto customers, the Gusto app in ChatGPT is now available to run payroll directly within ChatGPT,” he added. “Small businesses can more easily harness the power of AI to complete one of the most time-sensitive tasks for their business.”
What can small businesses expect? Cosgrove noted the following:
- Real-time guidance, supported by AI: Customers who connect their Gusto account with the Gusto app in ChatGPT will be able to use natural language to help interpret payroll questions, surface business and people trends, and guide them through tasks like payroll. For example, businesses can view estimated costs for their upcoming payroll period and get a breakdown of labor costs and expenses by date and department.
- Run payroll in ChatGPT: Currently available for select Gusto customers (with availability being expanded over time), business owners will be able to complete payroll tasks instantly by asking the Gusto app in ChatGPT, reducing the time spent navigating multiple dashboards or systems. To get started, use the prompt: “@Gusto, help me run payroll.”
“We’re starting by enabling a conversational interface and payroll via the Gusto app in ChatGPT, but this is just the start,” Cosgrove said. “We will release more capabilities over time, including deeper insights, reporting, and additional ways to work with your Gusto data directly through the Gusto app in ChatGPT.
“With the Gusto app in ChatGPT, small businesses can spend less time on busy work and more time on what really matters: growing their business,” he added.
