Top 200 accounting firm LGA announced the completion of two merger deals this week—one with Boston-based CPA firm Cohen Cohen & Co. and the other with Stoneham, MA-based CPA firm Ziner & Murphy—effective Dec. 1.
Financial terms of both deals weren’t disclosed.
Cohen Cohen & Co. has served clients in the Greater Boston area since 1981. Led by David Fine and Rajiv Dayal, who will be joining LGA, the firm is known for its accounting, tax, and advisory solutions.
LGA leaders say the firm looks forward to offering Cohen Cohen & Co.’s clients, as well as clients of Ziner & Murphy, a broader array of advisory services, including M&A, business and tax advisory, forensic and litigation support, fractional CFO, and business valuations.
“David and Rajiv share our philosophy that the best client relationships are built on trust, accessibility, and care,” John Geraci, managing partner of Woburn, MA-based LGA, said in statement on Dec. 3. “This merger strengthens LGA’s presence in the Greater Boston area and ensures that clients of both firms benefit from the combined expertise of a larger, yet still locally focused, team.”
The Cohen Cohen & Co. team will integrate into LGA’s offices in Woburn, MA, Chestnut Hill, MA, and Salem, NH.
“After more than 40 years of serving our clients, we wanted to ensure they would continue to receive the same level of attention, backed by the resources of a strong regional firm. LGA’s people-first culture and commitment to independence made it a perfect fit,” Fine said.
Dayal added, “This transition allows us to continue doing what we love, working closely with clients to help them succeed, while giving them access to a wider range of services and professionals across New England.”

Founded by David Murphy, Ziner & Murphy has earned a strong reputation for its expertise in construction, HUD audits, charter schools, and nonprofit organizations, along with a consistent focus on personal attention and practical insight for owner-managed businesses, LGA said in a Dec. 3 media release.

Before this week, LGA’s last M&A deal was around this time last year when it merged with McGaunn & Schwadron, a Needham, MA-based veterinary and dental practice accounting firm.
