Supplemental Security Income recipients will get their monthly payment for November during the month of October this year.

SSI is a program that provides payments to older adults and people who have disabilities and limited income or financial resources. The separate Social Security program provides monthly retirement, disability and survivor benefits, generally based on a worker’s earnings history.

Both programs are overseen by the Social Security Administration and operate on different payment distribution schedules. Here’s what beneficiaries should know about when to expect their next check.

Why is SSI being paid on Oct. 30?

SSI beneficiaries will get their November payments in October this year.

That’s because Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday, so the SSA is sending checks out on the preceding business day, Friday, Oct. 30.
