Sales tax compliance platform Numeral announced Wednesday a $100 million Series C led by global software investor Insight Partners, with participation from Salesforce Ventures, Geodesic, Benchmark, Mayfield, FCVC, Y Combinator, and Uncork.
The San Francisco-based company says it will use the funding to accelerate product development; expand its offering for the software, manufacturing, distribution and wholesale industries; and grow its team across engineering, sales, marketing, and product.
Numeral supports businesses across the sales tax compliance lifecycle, from nexus monitoring and registrations to tax calculation, filings, remittance, and exemption certificate management. It also supports value-added tax and goods and services tax compliance in more than 90 countries and connects with more than 40 billing systems, financial platforms, and enterprise resource planning systems.

“Sales tax has become a much bigger operational challenge as companies grow across markets, systems, and business models,” Sam Ross, co-founder and CEO of Numeral, said in a statement. “Businesses need infrastructure that can keep pace as rules and requirements change across jurisdictions, without adding more manual work for their teams. We’re building Numeral to provide that foundation, backed by tax expertise and service that customers can rely on.”
Founded in 2023 by Ross and CTO Matt DuVall, Numeral previously raised a $35 million Series B in September 2025. Its existing investors include Benchmark, Uncork Capital, Y Combinator, Mantis, FCVC, and Mayfield.
The company has seen a 327% year-over-year increase in total transaction volume, and it expects to process more than 80 million transactions via its tax engine.
Numeral’s growth is also extending across a broader mix of industries, as it recorded a significant increase in software, distribution, and manufacturing customers, many of which are dealing with significant change, the company says.
“Sales tax is mission-critical to get right, and the complexity is only growing as regulations expand into new products and markets,” Rebecca Liu-Doyle, managing director at Insight Partners, said in a statement. “We tracked this space closely and saw Numeral consistently deliver—customers repeatedly pointed to the company’s reliability, accuracy, and high level of service. With AI enabling the team to bring sophisticated tax and compliance infrastructure within reach of businesses that previously lacked access, Numeral has a strong foundation for continued growth, and we’re excited to back them through this next stage.”
Numeral says it’s building deeper partnerships with accounting firms with the launch of its accounting partner program. Firms can refer clients, resell the platform, use it to deliver their own services, or advise clients through implementation. This lets accounting professionals stay closely involved in their clients’ tax decisions. Moreover, partners are provided premier support and other benefits designed to reward engagement and growth.
“Our customers want to know that their tax obligations are being handled accurately while still having access to a person when a complex issue comes up,” Ross said. “That expectation shapes how we build the platform and how we support each customer. As Numeral moves into additional industries and serves larger businesses, we’ll continue investing in both the technology and the tax expertise behind it.”
Numeral combines a deterministic tax engine with artificial intelligence and automation to support high-volume compliance work. Customers and partners can access in-house specialists for questions and more complex requirements.
“Tax compliance has traditionally forced businesses to choose between expensive manual work and software that still leaves them carrying the operational burden,” Arvind Ayyala, partner at Geodesic Capital, said in a statement. “Numeral is changing that model by combining deep tax expertise with AI-native infrastructure to deliver tax compliance as an outcome. We are excited to support Sam, Matt, and the team as they build a category-defining business.”
