State CPA Society News & Updates is a selection of recent announcements and initiatives by CPA associations in the United States and its territories.
The Tennessee Society of CPAs (TSCPA) hosted 32 students from colleges and universities across Tennessee for the society’s fourth annual Future CPA Leadership Summit.
Designed for accounting students who plan to pursue CPA licensure, the summit offered opportunities for participants to connect with peers, gain insight from experts, and enhance their leadership skills. The program included sessions on essential leadership skills for today’s accounting professionals, building and elevating your personal brand, hot topics and trends shaping accounting careers, and strengthening communication and networking skills. Students were also able to connect with seasoned CPAs during a networking reception and dinner.
Future CPA Leadership Summit participants had the opportunity to hear from top leaders in the profession, including Nancy Brown, CPA, chief seamless officer at CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA). Brown shared practical insights about the variety of career opportunities available within the profession. Patricia Hartman, director of client services of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), also shared an overview of the CPA Exam and the licensure process.
The students also participated in Professionalism Round Tables, a hands-on experience designed to provide practical tools, confidence and insights to stand out in the recruiting process. Participants received internship and job search tips, completed mock interviews, and received personalized feedback on their resumes and LinkedIn profiles.
In addition, the students had the opportunity to learn from CPAs a few steps ahead in their careers during the young CPA panel discussion. Panelists provided insight on taking the CPA Exam, including how to prepare, balancing life and studying, and their advice for passing the Exam. The discussion also focused on what to expect when transitioning from college to career.
The summit was made possible thanks to TSCPA’s Student Outreach, Advancement and Recruitment (SOAR) Partners. The TSCPA SOAR Partner Program works to enhance the future of the profession by helping the next generation understand the possibilities that a career in accounting can provide.
The Iowa Society of CPAs (ISCPA) has opened registration for its AI for CPAs Series. Available as a bundled webinar package, the series offers multiple sessions between Friday, October 16 and Wednesday, December 30, 2026. The bundled price is $279 for ISCPA members and $339 for non-members.

The California Society of CPAs (CALCPA) has announced the Farmers Tax and Accounting Virtual Conference, which will take place November 6, 2026 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
The conference highlights the challenges that farmers and agribusinesses face and is intended for CPAs, CMAs, and any finance professional working in farming or agriculture.

The Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) has opened registration for the 56th Annual Virginia Accounting & Auditing Virtual Conference.
The online conference will take place November 18 to November 20, 2026, with all sessions taking place in the morning. The cost of the conference is $620 for both VSCPA members and nonmembers.

The Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants (HSCPA) has opened registration for the HSCPA 66th Annual Future in Focus Conference.
The conference will take place on Friday, November 13, 2026 at the Pince Waikiki in Honolulu from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
The cost of the conference is $290 for HSCPA members with a non-member cost of $340 until October 30, with pricing of $340 for members and $390 for non-members thereafter.
