KPMG US named Jason LaRue as the next vice chair of talent and culture. He succeeds Sandy Torchia, who will be retiring from the firm on Sept. 30.
A member of KPMG’s management committee, LaRue will oversee the firm’s talent and culture strategies and all human resources activities, including such areas as workforce planning and deployment, total rewards, recruiting, talent management, learning and others.
He previously served as national managing partner of talent and culture at KPMG. Over the course of his 20 years with the firm, he has played a key role in advancing talent and culture initiatives that strengthen the organization and fuel client success.
“Jason brings unrivaled knowledge, perspective, and the forward-looking vision needed to accelerate our talent transformation,” Tim Walsh, chair and CEO of KPMG US, said in a post on LinkedIn Aug. 18. “Over more than 20 years with KPMG, he has developed a deep understanding of our business, our people, and the role Talent & Culture plays in helping both succeed. His expertise and strategic vision, paired with an appetite for change, meet the moment while also honoring our culture.”
LaRue serves as a board member for Blessings in a Backpack and an advisory board member for Fairfield University’s John Charles Meditz College of Arts and Sciences.

Torchia has spent nearly 30 years at KPMG and has held a variety of roles, including several leadership positions. She led a multibillion-dollar business as national managing partner for KPMG’s Advisory practice, where she was responsible for advancing strategy, driving growth and innovation, and developing the practice’s diverse and inclusive culture. She also led several multimillion-dollar U.S. and global businesses, including leading the firm’s practice focused on managing information technology risk, as well as its U.S. Risk Advisory Solutions practice.
“Thank you to Sandy Torchia for her outstanding leadership and nearly 30 years of service to KPMG, as she prepares to retire in September,” Walsh said. “Since joining our Management Committee in 2022, Sandy has helped lead Talent & Culture through a period of significant change and transformation, while keeping our people at the center.”
