An Encino estate owned by comedian Carlos Mencia is on the market for $6.75 million.

The two-story, 9,089-square-foot residence sits on a nearly half-acre lot with a pool and spa. Completed in 1992, it features eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

Public records show Mencia and his wife, Amy, bought the property for $4.3 million in January 2008 through a living trust for which they serve as trustees.

Financial troubles followed. Records viewed at PropertyShark show lenders repeatedly initiated foreclosure proceedings, recording notices of default and trustee sales before canceling those actions and later filing additional defaults since 2021. The California Post reported that Mencia recently went to court and received permission to sell the home as part of efforts to address more than $300,000 in state tax debt.

Despite Mencia’s financial troubles, the estate retains the features that define its contemporary Mediterranean-style design.

A two-story porte cochère allIows vehicles to pull up to the entry doors under a grand shelter.

Beyond the threshold, the foyer with a wrought-iron staircase flows into the formal living and dining spaces, kitchen, library and home theater.

Two primary suites add to the home’s upscale offerings.

Olga Laron and Raymond Dominguez of Engel and Völkers share the listing.

The home comes to market as Mencia faces 12 felony state tax evasion charges brought by the Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman’s newly established Business Tax Fraud Unit.

Prosecutors accuse the host of Comedy Central’s “Mind of Mencia” of failing to report $8.7 million in personal and corporate income from 2019 to 2024.
