Top 100 accounting firm BMSS Advisors & CPAs has merged in Fairhope, AL-based CPA firm Avizo Group, effective July 1.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Birmingham, AL-based BMSS has expanded from eight offices to 10, adding locations in Brewton and Fairhope, AL, and grown to approximately 410 employees.
This is BMSS’s first M&A deal in 2026. Its last deal was in late 2023 when it combined with Haddox Reid Eubank Betts, a Ridgeland, MS-based CPA and advisory firm.

BMSS says the merger with Avizo further strengthens its presence across Alabama and Mississippi.

Over the coming months, the Avizo and BMSS teams will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition and identify ways to bring expanded value, expertise, and resources to clients of both firms, officials say.
Avizo was established in 1990 under the name Hartmann, Blackmon & Kilgore. The firm changed its name to Avizo in 2020. While the firm provides traditional accounting services, such as tax and assurance, Avizo also offers comprehensive business consulting, strategic planning, and industry-specific solutions.
“While this combination creates new opportunities, our commitment to the personal, relationship-driven service that has defined Avizo since 1990 remains unchanged,” Avizo CEO and Managing Shareholder Rachel Young said in a statement. “That commitment is one of the qualities shared by both BMSS and Avizo, and it will continue to guide us in this next chapter.”
Together, the combined firm will provide advisory, tax, assurance, estate and trust, valuation, payroll, wealth management, cybersecurity, IT, and artificial intelligence/business intelligence services.

BMSS is a member of the BDO Alliance USA, a nationwide association of independently owned local and regional accounting, consulting, and service firms with similar client service goals.
