Draper, UT-based accounting firm Sadler Gibb has acquired Assure CPA, a Spokane, WA-based firm specializing in public company audit and assurance, effective May 14.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. The combined firm will operate from offices in Draper and Spokane, serving growing businesses, complex organizations, and public companies across the western U.S., officials say.
Founded in 2009, Sadler Gibb says the acquisition expands its geographic reach into the Pacific Northwest and adds Public Company Accounting Oversight Board-registered audit capability to its tax, audit, assurance, and advisory practices.
“Assure has built one of the strongest public company niche audit practices in the Pacific Northwest, with rare technical depth in mining, natural resources, and manufacturing,” Sadler Gibb Managing Partner Mark Elwood said in a statement on June 3. “Bringing their team into Sadler Gibb extends our regional footprint and meaningfully strengthens the technical bench we can put behind growth and serving clients across the West.”
Founded in 2020 as the public company audit and Securities and Exchange Commission reporting practice spun out of DeCoria, Maichel & Teague P.S.—a Spokane firm whose public accounting heritage dates to 1997—Assure CPA is PCAOB-registered and brings expertise in audit and assurance, SEC reporting, SOX 404 internal audit, tax, and advisory, with a particular focus on the mining, natural resources, and manufacturing industries.

Six members of the Assure team will join Sadler Gibb, ensuring continuity for Spokane clients across audit, assurance, and advisory engagements.
Founder and Managing Director Jeff Maichel, who founded the predecessor firm in 1997, will retire in connection with the transaction.
“For nearly 30 years, our team’s focus has been on doing exceptional, high-integrity work for the public companies and industries we serve. Joining Sadler Gibb ensures our clients and our people are in outstanding hands—with a deeper bench and a broader set of services while preserving the relationships and standards they’ve come to expect,” Maichel said in a statement. “I couldn’t have asked for a better next chapter for the team I’ve had the privilege to build.”
