A former money manager for entertainer Nick Cannon was hit with an eight-count federal indictment for allegedly stealing more than $2 million from the star over several years.
Prosecutors allege that Frank Musoke, who served as an account manager at a Beverly Hills management and tax firm, used his access to Cannon’s debit cards and PIN numbers to withdraw approximately $1.7 million from ATMs and fund personal travel and Amazon purchases, TMZ reported.
Musoke, 38, who previously resided in Woodland Hills, California, is charged with five counts of wire fraud and three counts of tax evasion by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, according to a statement from the office released Wednesday.
Authorities also alleged that Musoke has fled to Uganda, where he has dual citizenship with the United States, according to the statement.
While the official indictment identifies the victim only as a high-profile celebrity, sources familiar with the matter confirmed that the victim is Cannon, who has been a client of the firm for nearly 20 years, Complex reported.
The management firm, which the indictment refers to as “Company A,” terminated Musoke’s employment in July 2023 after discovering that the funds were missing from Cannon’s account, according to TMZ.
Beyond the initial theft allegations, Musoke faces tax evasion charges for allegedly failing to report more than $1.7 million in stolen income on his federal tax returns between 2021 and 2023, TheGrio reported.
Musoke could face up to 20 years in prison for each count of wire fraud if he is apprehended and convicted, according to Complex.
