Cloud ERP company Acumatica announced this week its 2026 R1 product enhancements for professional services and field service organizations, including expanded AI capabilities, enhanced reporting tools, and new collaboration features.

“As companies expand service offerings to drive revenue and strengthen customer relationships, many find that legacy systems struggle to scale, negatively affecting control. Disconnected systems and manual reporting slow decision-making and make it harder to manage projects, resources, and financial performance as businesses and subsequent operations grow in complexity,” the Bellevue, WA-based company said in a March 26 media release.

Acumatica says the 2026 R1 update addresses these challenges with AI-enabled workflows, improved reporting and financial oversight, and enhanced collaboration tools that better connect field teams with the back office.

The release also introduces early access to Acumatica’s AI Assistant, giving users a more intuitive, conversational way to surface insights, with broader availability planned for later this year.

“Service-driven businesses depend on clear insight into people, projects, and profitability,” Jon Pollock, chief product officer at Acumatica, said in a statement. “When finance, project, and field service teams within an organization work from the same data, they make better decisions, improve resource allocations, protect the company’s margins, and build a unified foundation for sustainable growth. That’s what 2026 R1 is designed to deliver.”

2026 R1 delivers improved mobile time tracking, more flexible timecard configurations, deeper financial visibility, and tighter project oversight in Acumatica’s Professional Services Edition. Enhanced reports include employee utilization, project revenue analysis, and unbilled project revenue aging.

“These features use the project billing engine to calculate the expected revenue and give firms more control over revenue timing and work-in-progress, helping protect margins as projects evolve,” Acumatica says. “By further connecting project accounting and financial management, organizations can move beyond spreadsheets to real-time decision-making.”

Field Service enhancements introduce greater pricing flexibility and operational control. New attribute-based pricing for lot- and serial-tracked items aligns pricing with real-world service complexity. At the same time, expanded Calendar Board and workflow improvements strengthen coordination between the office and the field, Acumatica says.

New AI-powered capabilities streamline workflows and proactively surface unexpected issues, such as revenue leakage or low staff utilization, by:

  • Continuously monitoring key report metrics to detect unusual variances.
  • Automatically tagging documents by type to enable faster, more accurate search results.

Expanded collaboration tools strengthen communication across finance, project, service, and customer teams. A modernized Activity Stream consolidates engagement history across opportunities, cases, and sales quotes, enabling faster responses and more informed actions, all within a unified system of record.

“With our expanded service capabilities, we’re giving professional services and field teams the intelligence they need to scale revenue while staying firmly in command of their business,” Pollock said. “The enhancements and innovations featured in 2026 R1 reflect our continued focus on helping mid-market organizations turn operational data into a strategic advantage.”
