Los Angeles-based top 100 accounting firm GHJ said Tuesday it has added fellow LA firm Hacker, Douglas & Co., which specializes in profit participation and entertainment accounting.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Hacker Douglas’ team joined GHJ’s Profit Participation Services practice earlier this month.
The addition of Hacker Douglas expands the expertise and services offered to clients, said GHJ, a full-service, national advisory and accounting firm that provides a broad range of audit, accounting, tax, and advisory services. In addition, GHJ’s offerings to clients in the entertainment industry will be enhanced by the incoming Hacker Douglas team, the firm said in a June 10 media release.
GHJ claims that its Profit Participation Services practice “has previously provided services to more than 80 of the top 100 grossing films and over half of the 100 greatest television shows”—a reach that is expected to grow significantly with the experience and longstanding client relationships Hacker Douglas brings to the firm.

“We are thrilled to welcome the exceptional team from Hacker Douglas to GHJ,” Peter Klass, leader of the Profit Participation Services practice at GHJ, said in a statement. “Their decades-long legacy of servicing leading television series and major motion pictures aligns perfectly with the high standard of service our clients expect from us.”
“This strategic decision—founded in the right cultural fit and top-class services—positions GHJ to continue to lead as a premiere provider of expertise in the entertainment industry,” added Ilan Haimoff, leader of GHJ’s Entertainment practice. “This allows our firm to enhance the support we provide to clients while remaining focused on delivering personalized attention.”
Hacker Douglas was founded in 1970 and has provided motion picture and television audits, merchandising, publishing and estate valuation, and expert witness and litigation support services to the entertainment industry.
“GHJ’s reputation and knowledge base are top tier in this industry,” said Wendy Mills, partner at Hacker Douglas who is now a senior consultant at GHJ. “Both firms strongly believe in providing the best client service to drive the most successful outcomes on all audit engagements, so we feel confident that GHJ is the perfect home for Hacker Douglas.”
The transaction was under the advisement of law firm Sklar Kirsh.
Headquartered in Los Angeles with additional offices in San Jose, Buffalo, NY, and Denver, GHJ employes more than 250 professionals and has 23 partners throughout the U.S. This is GHJ’s first M&A deal since last November when it merged in fellow LA accounting firm GGF.
