Career Highlights
In the past year, I have really focused on deepening my understanding of the vital role of accountants in government, business, and the lives of individual taxpayers. As I connect with other non-accounting professionals and peers, I always love hearing their perspective of the accounting industry.
As a CPA exam candidate, I’m amazed at how much of a conversation starter my study material books have been while traveling and out in public. Hopefully my advocacy for our profession shines a positive light on the industry for others to consider the path to becoming a CPA one day!
What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world?
In 2024 I focused on connections, professional relationships, and helping others find the community support they desire – professionally and socially. I encourage more organizations to mentor and inspire millennials and younger generations.
A new experience was supporting a kid entrepreneur event to build confidence in business, leadership, sales, marketing, and creativity in children. I encourage others to provide them with the tools and confidence they need to be successful. I’m still humbled and amazed at the traction that my two children’s books, Adelaide the Accountant, and Adelaide and Agriculture continue to receive!
Current Professional Reading / Listening
In 2024, I was selected to be part of NABA’s CPA Bound 2.0 Cohort 2024-2025. This community is a wonderful space to network and inspire my peers to continue to strive for licensure in the accounting industry. I currently spend many hours studying and taking practice exams – all in addition to attending seminars to earn my IRS CE required to maintain my Enrolled Agent license. I really like the Becker CPA exam materials and the Tax Alliance Conference for all of my continuing education hours.
