What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world?

In addition to my academic responsibilities, I have been actively engaged in making a difference in the profession and community. I have joined key AICPA leadership committees, served on the IMA Nashville Chapter Board, and led Tennessee state ethics training. Further, I have incorporated agile project management methodology into my experiential learning opportunities within the classroom, allowing students to gain practical experience with IT agility and preparing them to adapt to evolving roles due to automation and advances in technology.

My faculty advisor role with the Women in Business student organization also demonstrates my commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders. Through these diverse initiatives, I am driving positive change both within and beyond the university setting. Importantly, my research and innovative teaching methodologies place a strong emphasis on the impact of emerging technologies within the accounting profession.

Favorite podcasts/books/blogs/websites/magazines that help with your professional development:

For all things AI, I’m a big fan of Ethan Mollick, Associate Professor at The Wharton School, and follow his research and content. I also enjoy keeping pace with the thought leadership from the Ernst & Young Academic Resource center under the leadership of Professor David Wood at BYU. Their work provides invaluable context that informs my own academic research exploring the nexus of emerging tech, sustainability, and risk management.

I also follow closely the developments of key emerging technology applications, such as Tableau, Alteryx and UiPath.

On a more personal note, the writings of Brene Brown have been transformative for me, as her perspectives on vulnerability and resilience have deeply resonated, guiding both my professional and personal development.
