Global tax services firm Ryan has expanded its income tax practice after acquiring Brayn Consulting, a Houston-based tax services firm that specializes in research and development, cost segregation, and green energy income tax incentives.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. As part of the acquisition, Brayn CEO Brady Bryan will join Ryan as principal and national leader of real property income tax incentives. He brings more than three decades of R&D and energy incentives experience that began at Big Four accounting firm Deloitte and led to founding Brayn.

The Brayn team will expand Ryan’s outreach among mid-market companies nationwide interested in minimizing their tax burden through tax incentives and credits. The employees of Brayn, who the firm calls “Brayniacs,” include lawyers, engineers, accountants, building scientists, and tax specialists with extensive industry experience hailing from the Big Four and other national consulting firms.
