BDO USA Announces Big Brothers Big Sisters of America as First Cause Partner

BDO’s commitment marks the firm’s first national strategic nonprofit collaboration and begins a three-year relationship with BBBSA to invest in future generations and enhance youth well-being.

BDO USA, one of the nation’s largest accounting and advisory firms, has announced a cause partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA), the preeminent one-to-one youth mentoring organization in the United States. BDO’s commitment marks the firm’s first national strategic nonprofit collaboration and begins a three-year relationship with BBBSA to invest in future generations and enhance youth well-being.

This relationship reflects BDO’s longstanding corporate citizenship commitment and serves as a major milestone following the launch of the firm’s evolved Social Impact strategy last year. The strategy encompasses four cause areas: Children & Youth, Education & Literacy, Human Rights and Environment. The firm’s relationship with BBBSA will strengthen its impact within its Children & Youth cause area by helping to create a pathway to economic empowerment and brighter prospects for the next generation through mentorship.

We believe our firm’s success is closely intertwined with the success of the communities in which we live and work. By prioritizing the development of children and youth, we nurture future leaders who will contribute to a more prosperous tomorrow. Our relationship with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is a natural fit, given our two organizations’ shared values of mentorship, connection and collaboration. ~ Cathy Moy, Chief People Officer of BDO USA

BBBSA was selected through a firmwide survey of BDO’s people, who also played an active role in determining its social impact cause areas. The firm sought a cause partner that aligned with employee interests and the priorities of the firm, including embodying its core purpose of helping people thrive every day.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters of America is excited to be BDO USA’s first nonprofit cause partner, where we will work together to create more mentorship opportunities for youth nationwide,” said BBBSA Chief Development Officer Deborah Barge. “Through this partnership, we hope to further empower and inspire young people to consider a range of career opportunities, including professional services firms like BDO.”

This cause partnership will help empower the futures of young people from middle school to age 25 by providing career mentoring, educational resources and expanded opportunities. Building this relationship with BBBSA will also bolster BDO’s employee-driven volunteer program, BDO Counts, by providing opportunities for increased community engagement for its professionals across the country.

“Mentorship is a powerful tool that can significantly enhance skill development, provide exposure to new opportunities, and build confidence in young individuals, empowering them to navigate their personal and professional journeys with greater assurance and success,” said Chad Gabriel, Senior Director of Social Impact at BDO USA. “At BDO, we are dedicated to nurturing these connections, providing guidance, and offering support. Together with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, we are committed to making a lasting difference, one relationship at a time.”
