State CPA Society News & Updates is a round-up of recent announcements and initiatives by CPA associations in the United States and its territories.

State CPA Society News & Updates is a round-up of recent announcements and initiatives by CPA associations in the United States and its territories.

The Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants or WICPA has announced a series of upcoming conferences including the following:

  • Business & Industry Fall Conference – September 18, 2023 at the Brookfield Conference Center in Brookfield, Wisconsin, which will be livestreamed for those not able to attend the conference in person.
  • Tax Conference – November 2 and 3, 2023 at the Brookfield Conference Center. The Tax Conference will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
  • Accounting & Auditing Conference – November 9, 2023 at the WICPA offices in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The conference will also be livestreamed.
  • Accounting Technology Conference – December 7, 2023 at the WICPA offices in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The conference will also be livestreamed.

The California Society of Certified Public Accountants or CalCPA recently named Meredith Johnson, CP A and a partner at BPM LLP the new chair of the CalCPA Board of Directors. Johnson will focus much of her time on redefining the CPA profession and career opportunities; creating an inclusive environment where all individuals can thrive. Johnson graduated from Whitman College with a bachelor’s degree in politics and Asian studies and Golden Gate University, where she obtained a master’s degree in taxation.

The Missouri Society of CPAs or MOCPA is offering a conference on elder law and asset management. The Elder Law, Wealth/Asset Management Conference will take place on Tuesday, November 2, 2023 at the MOCPA St. Louis Learning Center.  The Conference will also be available virtually for those unable to attend in person.

The North Carolina Association of CPAs or NCACPA recently announced that current CEO Sharon Bryson, M.Ed., will retire effective January 31, 2024. For nearly four decades, Bryson has served in a variety or roles at NCACPA including Chief Operating Officer prior to becoming CEO on May 1, 2016. The NCACPA board is assembling a search committee to identify the Society’s next CEO.

The Iowa Society of CPAs or ISCPA is offering their Fall CPE Conference September 21-22, 2023 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cedar Rapids. The conference offers 16 CPE credits and offers a variety of topics including tax, accounting, and auditing.
