Question for those of you who work in public accounting: Did you get a promotion this year? If you did, you were not alone. According to a recent analysis by LinkedIn, professional services, which includes public accounting, was among the five industries that gave out the most promotions in 2022:
“Promotions don’t happen overnight,” said organizational behavior scholar Ruchi Sinha. “It can sometimes take months to build a case around why you deserve one. So plan to have an initial conversation with your manager six to nine months before you want to get promoted.”
The findings are based on an analysis of more than 140 million active LinkedIn profiles in the United States, focusing on job changes this year.
