What do you feel is the most important issue facing the accounting profession today?
I feel the biggest issue is our pipeline and the future of the profession. We have to start now to break down barriers to create the pipeline and ensure diversity is present within that pipeline.
What one thing would you recommend accountants do to prepare for the future?
Get involved in your profession! By getting outside of the “walls” of your firm and engage in committees, conferences and events. Broaden your horizons and awareness of what is happening and what firms are doing about it. Then determine how those concepts can fit within your organization.
What one skill or experience would you recommend that young women getting started in the accounting profession master?
Take the initiative. Most often we are our own worst enemy by creating self-doubt in our ability to do well. Surround yourself by people that energize and motivate you to be better and to do more.
