Cieslak2020

The members of the Accounting Thought Leader Symposium have elected David Cieslak, CPA.CITP, CGMA, GSEC, accounting technologist and chief cloud officer and executive vice president with RKL eSolutions, into CPA Practice Advisor’s Accounting Hall of Fame. The announcement was made during a presentation at the 2020 meeting of the Thought Leader Symposium, an accounting think tank that meets annually. This year’s meeting is being held in Kansas City, MO. Cieslak joins existing Accounting Hall of Fame members, Ron Baker, CPA; Gary Boomer, CPA.CITP, CGMA; Chris Frederiksen, CPA; Tom Hood, CPA.CITP, CGMA; Randy Johnston; Allan Koltin, CPA; Greg LaFollette, CPA.CITP, CGMA; Rick Richardson, CPA.CITP, CGMA; Doug Sleeter; and Jennifer Wilson.

“A long time ago, in a CPA firm far, far away, there was a CPA with a vision,” began Gail Perry, editor-in-chief of CPA Practice Advisor, as she announced the award.
She went on to describe Cieslak as having the patience to work with an accounting profession that doesn’t always move at a quick pace, a taste for fine wine, and an endearing nickname. “This year’s inductee into the Accounting Hall of Fame is Inspector Gadget, David Cieslak.” Cieslak is a frequent personality at accounting conferences, speaking about the latest technology solutions, using the persona of Inspector Gadget.

Cieslak began his accounting career at Price Waterhouse in the 1980s, was a principal for Cieslak, Boynton & Speakman for eight years, and then spent 24 years with Arxis Technology in Simi Valley, CA. He has been with RKL eSolutions since January 2018. Since its founding in 2002, RKL eSolutions has been providing business software and IT/Networking solutions for its clients. The company represents Sage and Sage Intacct software.

Cieslak has been named one of Accounting Today magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in Accounting for 17 of the past 19 years and has been a member of the Accounting Thought Leader Symposium since 2011.

The Thought Leader Symposium brings together key influencers in the accounting profession for interactive discussions with each other and engagement with vendors that are shaping the profession and small businesses. Attendees travel from as far as Australia to attend the event. The 2020 Symposium is sponsored by Intuit. ADP, and Zoho.
