The future of the accounting and finance profession will take center stage on Dec. 3 when the Maryland Association of CPAs holds its annual #FutureReady CPA Summit.

The day-long event will feature some of the most influential and important voices in the profession and innovative solutions that can help move careers and businesses forward. Topics will include leadership, technology, cutting-edge trends, and emerging professional issues.

“Given the changing and complex world in which we live, the #FutureReady Summit is one of our most innovative and important events,” said MACPA President and CEO Tom Hood, CPA. “The folks on the agenda are some of the most forward-thinking thought leaders in our profession, and these conversations have never been more relevant to the future of accounting and finance.”

This year’s Summit will be bookended by two new events, each designed to help accounting and finance professionals prepare for what’s next:

●    #FutureReady Learning Labs, Dec. 2: This afternoon-long, pre-Summit event will feature a series of TED-style talks by influencers who are paving the profession’s way forward. Topics will include cloud accounting, audit automation, workflow and productivity, blockchain and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, risk management, human resources, and more. The Learning Labs are free for MACPA members.

●     A.I. Innovation Summit, Dec. 4: Attendees will join CPAs and business leaders for conversations on where artificial intelligence is headed, why they need to prepare, and how they can leverage A.I. in the accounting and finance roles of the future. The half-day event will showcase how firms and companies of all sizes are already using A.I. — along with machine learning, data analytics, and automation — to improve workflow, boost productivity, and increase efficiencies across a diverse range of business lines.

“These two new events are designed to lay the foundation for what we’ll learn at the #FutureReady Summit and reinforce those lessons with a deeper dive into new technologies,” Hood said. “Becoming future-ready is no easy task, but these conversations are a perfect starting point.”
