Acquired by Payroll Logix Inc. in 2018, Crest Payroll is offered solely to accounting professionals that wish to offer payroll services to their clients. Crest Payroll is loaded with featuacres and is an online payroll solution, that can be used with all common web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Google Chrome. Updated mobile apps allow users to easily access Crest Payroll, and with mobile and PC versions of the application identical, users will the same navigation experience no matter what device is used to access the application.

Crest Payroll supports unlimited users and unlimited clients, and includes role-based access for accounting firm employees, clients, and client employees, with clients logging into the payroll portal directly from their website. Used at accounting firms as a behind the scenes application, Crest provides accounting firms with complete customization capability so each firm can offer payroll services with their own branding.

A setup wizard is included in Crest Payroll. Once a company and their respective employees have been added, the payroll process is automated, so users only need enter employee time once, and Crest Payroll does the rest. Users can also import employee information using a Microsoft Excel template. There are multiple payroll entry methods available, including importing time from a timeclock, via the Excel spreadsheet, just mentioned, or by using the Auto-Pilot feature, which can be used for standard payrolls where pay information remains consistent from pay period to pay period. Once payroll has been set up, users only need to enter any subsequent payroll changes such as an added deduction or a change in salary. Crest Payroll supports multiple pay periods, so different clients can have different pay dates as well as multi-state payroll, along with union pay, one-time and custom pay types, and wage garnishments. After-the-fact payroll is also supported in Crest Payroll and both direct deposit and print checks are supported in Crest Payroll

Crest Payroll includes tax tables for all 50 states, and the product handles all payroll liability reporting including federal, state, and local reporting for states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky, along with several others. Both electronic filing and electronic payment capability is included in Crest Payroll as well. In addition, the product handles all new hire reporting along with year-end W-2 processing. 

Crest Payroll includes more than 20 standard payroll reports that can be customized and memorized in the application for quick future access. A custom report design feature is also included in the application as well. All Crest Payroll reports can be exported to Microsoft Word or Excel for further customization or saved as a PDF. Various reports can also be shared with clients via the portal if desired.

Crest Payroll includes a web-based timeclock, making it easy for employees to track time from any location, with users then able to take all time and import it directly into the payroll application. Other add-ons available include pay-as-you-go workers compensation insurance, and also e-Sign capability, which includes both form creation as well as e-signing capability. HR tools are also available, including an online document center, expense management, paid time benefits, employee self-service capability, leave management, performance reviews, and training requests.

Mentioned earlier, Crest Payroll includes an employee self-service feature that allows clients and their employees to log into the portal to access payroll and related information such as W-2s and paystubs.  

Crest Payroll offers telephone, email, and chat support, with support available during regular business hours. A brief demo of the application is also available on the vendor’s website, but does not provide a great deal of information. There is a brief FAQ page available as well as a blog.
