Bruce Zicari Begins Tenure as CEO of The Bonadio Group

The Bonadio Group, a nationally-ranked Top 40 CPA firm, recently announced that Bruce Zicari has begun his tenure as the new CEO of the Bonadio Group, succeeding founder Tom Bonadio, who had held the position of CEO since the company was founded in 1978.  Bonadio will serve as a senior consultant.

Zicari joined The Bonadio Group in 1996, and most recently served as the Rochester Office Managing Partner and partner in charge of the Small Business Advisory Group.

The Bonadio Group has grown to more than $115 million in revenue and currently maintains offices in upstate New York, as well as in metro New York, Vermont, and Dallas, TX.

New Director of Cybersecurity joins Armanino LLP

Armanino LLP, one of the 25 largest accounting and business consulting firms in the U.S., announced that Terry O’Daniel has been named the new Director of Cybersecurity. O’Daniel has more than 20 years of cybersecurity, information technology, and risk management experience and holds multiple professional certifications including Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager, Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls and Certified Information Privacy Technologist.

Along with audit, tax, business management, and consulting, Armanino offers a breadth of security solutions within its cybersecurity practice.

Jenna Chupurdy from Hood & Strong Honored as Emerging Leader

Hood & Strong LLP, a leading Bay Area accounting and business consulting firm, has announced that Jenna Chupurdy was recently named an Emerging Leader at the YWCA Silicon Valley’s Tribute to Women Awards, an annual event that honors women executive leaders and emerging leaders from the Silicon Valley tech and business sectors. Chupurdy was honored for her contributions in improving company culture and business efficiencies.

Hood and Strong has been named a Best Accounting Firm for Leadership Equity by the Accounting MOVE Project for five consecutive years, with women and minorities comprising more than 60 percent of the total employee base.

Six New Board Members Elected to Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi, an honor organization for financial information students and professionals whose objective is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field, recently announced the election of six new members to its Board of Directors:

Rita Grant, Incoming President-elect – Grant is currently the Associate Professor at the School of Accounting at the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is a member of the American Accounting Association and AAA sections APLG, FAR and TLC and previously served on the Beta Alpha Psi Board of Directors as Director of Global Activities.

Dr. Barbara Ritter, Incoming Dean Representative – Ritter is the Dean of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University, and is an expert in organizational behavior and management education. Her past experience includes consulting in the areas of organizational culture, human resource policies, employee satisfaction, selection and promotion, performance appraisal and development, and data collection and analysis.

Alicia Fleri, Incoming At-Large Director, Information Systems – Fleri is the Director of Partner Relations for Xero Americas, leading a team that delivers world-class education, thought leadership and business resources. Prior to Xero, Fleri led a practice of accountants and value-added resellers that provided bookkeeping, CFO and advisory services to small business customers.

Dr. Steven Mezzio, PhD, CPA, Incoming At-Large Director, Innovation – Mezzio is currently a clinical associate professor of accounting, and student advisor for Beta Alpha Psi and the Chess Club for the Pace University Lubin School of Business. He serves on the AICPA Journal of Accountancy Editorial Advisory Board, and is a National Instructor for the AICPA COSO Certificate Program.

Michael Mullen, Incoming At-Large Director, Finance – Mullen is an Associate Professor and Director of the Finance program and Entrepreneurship minor in the Meehan School of Business at Stonehill College. He is currently the Managing Director of Tarvos Capital Management, LLC, and maintains a research and consulting arrangement with Bellevue Asset Management, Zurich.  He holds both the CFA and CAIA certifications.

Michael Brown, Incoming Professional Partner Chair-elect – Brown is the National Manager of Faculty & Distance Learning with Becker Professional Education and has extensive experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, and education. Brown is a licensed CPA in the State of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Incoming 1st Year Chapter Advocates include: Sandra Cereola (Atlantic Coast Region) – Cereola is an Associate Professor at James Madison University (JMU) and has been a chapter advisor for over 15 years.

Cassy Henderson (Southwest Region) – Henderson is currently an Associate Professor at Sam Houston State University and has been the chapter’s advisor since 2012.

Lynette Stolarzyk Named Specialty Tax Leader

Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly), a leading advisory, tax, and assurance firm headquartered in Chicago, recently announced that Principal Lynette Stolarzyk, J.D., LL.M., will lead the new specialty tax group.

Stolarzyk’s new role will be responsible for driving growth and expanding the capabilities of the firm’s specialty tax group. Stolarzyk has extensive tax consulting and compliance experience in both the public and private sector, and has also served as a senior lecturer and director of professional programs in accounting at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She was also named to Finance and Commerce’s Top Women in Finance and Minnesota Business Magazine’s Women Who Lead last year.
