Advisory services have led CPA firm growth over the past four years, according to the AICPA, with a 91 percent increase since 2010.

To help accounting firms provide additional business services to clients, TrustRadius, a research platform for business technology buyers, has published its first buyers’ guide for accounting software for firms engaged in BPO (Business Process Outsourcing). The announcement was made at CPA.com’s 2015 Digital CPA Conference at the Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

The guide helps CPAs engaged in BPO to quickly locate the accounting software products most highly rated and commonly considered by their peers.

Unveiled in the guide, the Accounting Software Vendor Landscape, depicts from the perspective of accountants providing BPO Services, accounting software products on two dimensions – average “Likelihood to Recommend” ratings by CPAs, and average firm size, as a proxy for complexity or sophistication. The guide also includes an overview of the practice of Business Process Outsourcing in the accounting arena, as well as detailed profiles of each of product, including average ratings for features, strengths specific to BPO and areas for improvement as cited in user reviews on TrustRadius.

All ratings come from authenticated users of accounting software products who reviewed or rated the product on TrustRadius.com.

“Understanding how well accounting software products perform in a BPO context is fundamentally different to the standard end user perspective” said Vinay Bhagat, CEO of TrustRadius. “This report captures accounting software ratings from CPAs in public practice who use these products to serve many different customers and help them run their business effectively. Not only does this report rank products according to how likely accounting firms are to recommend them to other firms, but it also includes rankings for the specific BPO features, which are uniquely important to this audience.”

According to Erik Asgeirsson, CEO & President of CPA.com, “This research demonstrates the maturity of the client advisory services category. Selecting the right BPO software is an important element of firm strategy and we’re glad the TrustRadius guide is available to firms.”

CPA.com provided support for the guide, including access to members of the Digital CPA community.
