AICPA Presents Valuation and Forensic Accounting Awards

The American Institute of CPAs has announced the winners of four awards in the forensic and valuation practice areas. The awards were presented today at the annual AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services Conference in New Orleans.

The American Institute of CPAs has announced the winners of four awards in the forensic and valuation practice areas. The awards were presented today at the annual AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services Conference in New Orleans.

The Forensic and Valuation Services (FVS) Section of the AICPA represents CPAs who provide financial forensic accounting and business valuation services, and offers the Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) specialty credentials for CPAs who concentrate in these areas. The Section annually honors their members who have made a positive impact on these areas of the profession.

“These deserving winners are being honored for their impressive body of work in the fields of financial forensics and business valuation. What has set them apart is their commitment to supporting their fellow CPAs who perform these essential services, and the leadership role they have taken in advancing this area of the profession” said Jeannette Koger, CPA, CGMA, vice president of member specialization and credentialing at the AICPA.

The award winners are listed below in alphabetical order:

Hubert Klein, CPA/ABV/CFF/CGMA, Partner EisnerAmper LLP, has been honored with the Forensic and Litigation Services Volunteer of the Year. Klein, an accomplished forensic accounting practitioner, has been extremely active in the FVS Section. He has served on the FVS Executive Committee, Forensic and Litigation Services Fraud Task Force, FVS Conference Planning Committee. In addition, Klein has created web seminars on developing regulations such as Dodd Frank and the UK Bribery Act. 

For his continuous efforts to improve and support the profession of business valuation, Jason MacMorran, CPA/ABV/CFF, Director with P&N Consulting, has been awarded the 2014 Business Valuation Volunteer of the Year Award. MacMorran’s professional experience includes business valuations for estate and gift matters, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, and financial reporting.  A member of the Business Valuation (BV) Committee for the past three year, MacMorran has chaired both the BV Web Site and Statement on Standards for Valuation Services Toolkit Task Forces. He speaks nationally on business valuation topics.

Sheri Schultz, CPA/ABV/CFF, director of valuation and business support services at Fiske & Company, has been named the recipient of the 2014 ABV Champion of the Year Award. The award is presented annually to an AICPA member who has played a leadership role in advancing the ABV credential and fostering a sense of community amongst credential holders in their state. Shultz is a member of the ABV Credential Committee and Chair of the ABV Champion Program Taskforce. She serves as Chair of the Florida Institute of CPAs Business Valuation/Litigation Committee and is also a member of their Valuation and Litigation Conference Planning Committee.

For her dedication and hard work in promoting the CFF Credential and the awareness she brings to the forensic profession, Elizabeth Woodward, CPA/CFF, director of the litigation support and forensic accounting team, Dean Dorton Allen Ford, has been named CFF Champion of the year. Woodward serves as a member of the CFF Champion Program Taskforce and is active within the Kentucky State Society of CPAs teaching professional ethics.
