What’s the one piece of technology that MOST helps you get through
your normal workday?

“It is hard to narrow this down to one piece of technology, but I can
certainly name three: e-mail, VoIP, and GoToMeeting (like WebEx). With these
three technologies, I can easily do business with anyone, anywhere in the world,
and at a very low cost.

What will be the biggest change over the next five years in the ways
tax and accounting firms operate?

“In the next five years, most firms that are not yet paperless will move
to become so. This will enable them to utilize new workflows and technologies
not feasible in a paper-based environment. Whether by tapping a global workforce
or automating manual processes with the help of Optical Character Recognition
technology, digitizing workflow will help firms work more efficiently and effectively
than ever before.”

What Dave’s peers had to say about him:
Dave is a true visionary and technology leader in the accounting industry. In
the past 10 years, he has led the paperless revolution by developing a paperless
Audit tool (ePace!) now called ProSystem fx Engagement, developing a paperless
workflow tool for 1040 tax preparation (SurePrep Express) and developing the
first OCR application that will read the data from source documents directly
into tax software (1040Scan). Additionally, Dave was one of the first to successfully
bring outsourcing (SurePrep) into the accounting industry. The products and
services Dave has
brought to market have arguably had a greater impact on the accounting industry
than any other applications or technologies in the past 10 years.
