Tax Planning is a mainstay of tax practice today. Practitioners
need tax planning software and tax research materials in order to effectively
serve their clients. The perfect companion to tax planning engagements is a
tax planning library. PPC (ppc.thomson.com) offers its Individual Tax Planning
Library and its Business Tax Planning Library, which feature written solutions
that offer practical insight and address a client’s individual diverse
tax planning needs. The PPC Libraries are written in a plain-English style and
offer step-by-step guidance and practice aids to assist practitioners in effectively
serving their clients. The Tax Planning Libraries are designed to assist in
implementation of strategies and to identify and complete engagements, enabling
clients to reduce their income, estate and gift taxes. PPC has packed a wealth
of tax information into these tax planning libraries.

PPC’s Individual Tax Planning Library features hands-on coverage of
tax planning for the self-employed, investments, retirement and social security,
college funding, charitable giving, life insurance, estate planning, family
partnerships, divorce transfers, and much more. The Library includes links to
additional source material, including the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations,
Tax Cases (1986 to present), IRS Rulings and Releases (1954 to present) and
IRS Letter Rulings (1992 to present). To top things off, a web link is provided
to PPC’s Five-Minute Briefings, a current developments newsletter.

PPC’s Business Tax Planning Library is built around PPC’s Tax
Planning Guides for business, including the Tax Planning for Closely Held Corporations,
Tax Planning for Partnerships, and Tax Planning for S Corporations. In addition
to the tax planning guides above, PPC offers in-depth coverage of business succession
planning, buying or selling a business, compensation and benefits, limited liability
companies, small employer retirement plans and real estate taxation. Tax Planning
strategies covered include over 3,000 real-life examples. Practitioners will
appreciate PPC’s practice-proven checklists, worksheets, tax elections,
and other practice aids, which will assist the practitioner and staff in choosing
tax strategies to effectively and profitably complete their tax planning engagements.

Like the Individual Tax Planning Library, the Business Tax Planning is linked
to additional source material, including the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury
Regulations, Tax Cases (1986 to present), IRS Rulings and Releases (1954 to
present) and IRS Letter Rulings (1992 to present).
The Business Tax Planning Library is also currently available on Checkpoint,
and the PPC Individual Tax Planning Library will be available on Checkpoint
in March 2006.
