Grant Thornton LLP, the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd., has announced revenues of $1.65 billion for the fiscal year ended July 31, 2016. The figure, a record for the firm, represents an 11.4 percent increase year over year.

“In FY 2016, we made great progress in delivering excellence for our clients, producing strong financial results and investing for sustainable, long-term success,” said Mike McGuire, chief executive officer of Grant Thornton LLP. “We made a number of key hires and promotions, including naming Jim Brady as our chief operating officer. And we retained more of our talented professionals than ever before – with a focus on building a healthy, collaborative, high-performance culture. Most importantly, we continued to increase our investments in quality, the foundation of all we do.”

Revenue growth was significant across the firm’s three service lines: Audit was up 6.3 percent, Tax increased 9.4 percent and Advisory grew 17.9 percent. Advisory’s momentum was bolstered by the April acquisition of ARRYVE, a business consulting firm based in Bellevue, Washington. Over the last two years, Advisory’s revenue grew 33.3 percent. Most of Grant Thornton’s industry groups also grew in 2016.

In addition, the firm created a new “flexible time off” policy and opened or renovated new office space in markets across the country, including its flagship Chicago headquarters.

McGuire was elected chief executive officer by the partners of Grant Thornton LLP in June 2014. He has been with the firm since 2002.
