KPMG Selects New Managing Partner
KPMG LLP has named Matt Kramer, CPA as Managing Partner of its Columbus office. In his new role, Kramer will oversee the strategic direction and growth of the office. He succeeds Philip Smith, who will be assuming a national market development leadership position with the firm. Kramer is a community advocate, serving on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters and as a mentoring coach for the Handshake Foundation. He graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Porte Brown CPA Earns CVA Designation
Porte Brown LLC announced that Dan Karnatz, CPA has earned the designation of Certified Valuation Analyst. Karnatz successfully completed the certification process with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, which consisted of an intensive training and testing process. Karnatz currently serves on the Business Valuation & Transition Planning team at Porte Brown, performing business valuation services for a variety of purposes including, the buying and selling of business ownership interests, estate and gift planning, divorce, shareholder disputes and strategic planning purposes.

GGI Private Equity and International Wealth Management Group Appoints New Chairperson
Prager Metis CPAs, LLC announced that Jack Brister, TEP has been appointed the regional North America Chairperson for the Private Equity and International Wealth Management Practice Group of Geneva Group International. GGI is a global organization of independent law, accounting, audit, management consulting and trust firms. Brister, the Partner-In-Charge of the Prager Metis International Services Practice Group, has participated in several GGI conferences and Practice Group activities since Prager Metis joined GGI in 2012. His expertise includes Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act issues, international private-client wealth issues and cross-border tax issues affecting high net worth individuals, families, non-resident alien businesses, and foreign wealth structures.

Gettry Marcus Announces Recent Hires
Gettry Marcus CPA, P.C. recently added three new members to its firm: Janet Winiarski, CPA to the Accounting & Audit Department; Stacey Ellenthal to the Marketing Department; and Jarred Berman, CFE, CFIP to the Business Valuation and Litigation Group. Winiarski has more than 14 years of experience with clients in the real estate, health care, distribution, manufacturing, and software development industries.

Ellenthal will serve as a Marketing Associate and has experience working at a marketing agency with clients in various industries. Her expertise includes social media marketing, digital and conventional media, strategic planning and public relations.

Berman’s experience includes forensic accounting, business valuation and litigation services. He graduated from Hofstra University.

Grant Thornton Selects New Managing Director of Transaction Advisory Services Practice
Grant Thornton LLP recently announced the addition of Mike Sullivan, CPA as a managing director in the firm's Transaction Advisory Services practice. Sullivan’s experience includes working with private equity investors and operators, assisting with the evaluation of target operations and quality of earnings and serving as a liaison between target management and investment teams. Sullivan graduated from Boston College with his bachelor's degree in accounting.

Crawford Forensic Accounting Services Names Managing Director
Crawford & Company has named Robert D. “Bob” Jones as managing director for Crawford Forensic Accounting Services. In this new role, Jones will oversee the operational and administrative activities, supervise forensic accounting services and develop and maintain U.S. client relationships. He will also work with CFAS teams in Canada and Latin America to expand CFAS into those markets. Jones has more than 30 years of forensic accounting and risk analysis experience and is a U.S. Navy veteran and licensed private investigator. He received his Business Administration degree in Accounting from the City University of New York, studied International Business and Accounting at Woodbury University in Burbank, California, and completed a course in leadership management at Leadership Burbank.

LBMC Partner Selected as 2014 “Women of Influence” Honoree
The Nashville Business Journal named Cindy Harper, CPA as an honoree in their Community Supporter category for Women of Influence. Harper is a tax partner at Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC and leader of the LBMC Wealth Management Segment. She currently servers as a mentor to the firm’s young professionals program and has helped develop the Women Initiatives Network. Her service to the community includes working with the United Way of Williamson County, Patricia Hart Society, Williamson County Long-Term Recovery Committee, the Barefoot Republic Camp and the Girl Scout Day Camp. Harper graduated cum laude from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Accounting.

Baker Newman Noyes Announces Promotions and Additions to Staff

WeiserMazars LLP hired Richard Barjon as a Senior Manager in the firm’s Private Client Services and Tax Practices. Richard specializes in providing individual tax consulting and compliance services to private equity and hedge fund managers, C-suite executives for Fortune 500 companies, small business owners, and high net worth individuals living in the U.S. and abroad.
