For 2023, however, many taxpayers who had received an extension to file, also later faced various forms of natural disasters for which the IRS has granted additional time to file.
This IRS relief is available to all residents and businesses in any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The bill would allow taxpayers to automatically qualify for an extension without fear of penalty by paying a simple, easily-calculated amount of 125 percent of their prior year’s tax liability.
