Nathan Weschler & Company Announces Appointment to Nonprofit Board

The accounting firm of Nathan Weschler & Company has recently announced the appointment of Ashley E. Major CPA to the Reaching Higher New Hampshire (NH) Board of Directors. Major has been a member of Nathan Weschler & Company since 2010, and currently serves as a manager; directing field work on engagements and supervising on-the-job training of staff members.

Reaching Higher NH (RHNH) is a public education policy resource for parents, educators, and elected officials whose mission is to “foster support for high standards in public schools, giving all New Hampshire children the opportunity to prepare for college, for immediate careers, and for the challenges and opportunities of life in 21st Century New Hampshire.

Major attended Siena College, where she earned a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Business Administration, both in Accounting. She is a member of the . She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants (NHSCPA).

 

blumshapiro Announces Appointment

blumshapiro, a business advisory firm in New England has recently announced the appointment of Frank E. Rudewicz Esq. Rudewicz joins blumshapiro as a member of the leadership team, and will lead the firm’s Litigation and Valuation practice. He will be based out of blumshapiro’s Boston office. Rudewicz has more than 30 years of experience conducting both domestic and international investigations for fraud, forensic accounting, asset tracing, and other litigation related matters. He has appeared on both NBC Dateline and Forensic Files for his investigative work, and is experienced in expert witness testimony in matters involving forensic accounting and trade secrets. Rudewicz received his juris doctor from the University of Connecticut and earned his bachelor of science in industrial technology and public safety management from Central Connecticut State University.

 

CalCPA Announces CEO Retirement and Replacement

The California Society of CPAs (CalCPA) and the CalCPA Education Foundation announced that current CEO Loretta Doon, CPA, will be retiring in June 2019. Doon has been recognized for her numerous achievements as head of CalCPA and the foundation, and has been named one of Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting numerous times.

CalCPA also named Anthony Pugliese, CPA, CGMA, CITP as the new incoming CEO for both organizations. Most recently, Pugliese was Vice President of Membership, Technology, and Learning for the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) Pugliese will join CalCPA in May to work on a seamless transition. In addition to being a CPA, Pugliese holds the AICPA’s CGMA credential for accountants in business and management accounting as well as its CITP for accountants with technology expertise.

BKD Announces New Managing Partner

BKD announced the appointment of Carley Williams to Managing Partner of BKD’s Oklahoma City, Enid, and Tulsa offices. Williams replaces Todd Lisle, who took over the Managing Partner role for BKD’s Dallas, Fort Worth, and Waco offices. Williams has been a partner in BKD’s Tulsa office for more than 8 years, and is currently on the Healthcare Financial Management Association’s (HFMA) national board of directors and is a past president of HFMA’s Oklahoma chapter.

 

Financial Planning Association (FPA) Announces New President

The Financial Planning Association (FPA) recently named Evelyn M, Zohlen, MBA, MS, CFP® its 2019 President. Zohlen will be instrumental in advancing the vision and strategic direction for the association. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Center for Investment and Wealth Management at the University of California at Irvine (UCI).

A former intelligence office in the United States Air Force, Zohlen is a graduate from the University of Texas, and earned a Master of Science from the Joint Military Intelligence College along with a Master in Business Administration from Villanova University.

 

BKD Announces Partner’s Appointment to Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Board

BKD recently announced the appointment of Partner Randy Oberdick to the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council. (FASAC). The role of the FASAC is to advise the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on instrumental matters and daily projects.

Oberdick currently serves a BKD’s North Region accounting and auditing director while overseeing the practice for 13 offices in seven states. He is an honors graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he obtained his B.S. degree in accounting, receiving the second-highest score on his CPA exam in Missouri.
