Illinois CPA Day of Service Gets Record Participation

Making a difference in their local communities was the main mission for accounting and financial professionals who participated in The Illinois CPA Society’s 7^th annual CPA Day of Service on September 23^rd. A record total of over 1,350 volunteers teamed up at events around the state to help with community gardening, packaging food for families in need, collecting books and learning materials for children and a host of other activities.

“CPAs are known for their financial expertise and the good work they do every day to help individuals, families and companies achieve success.” said Todd Shapiro, President and CEO of the Illinois CPA Society. “Our annual CPA Day of Service encourages CPAs to expand their supportive nature even further by giving back in a variety of hands-on ways to the communities where they live and work.”

Among the many organizations visited by CPA Day of Service volunteers this year included Habitat for Humanity, the DuPage Children’s Museum in Naperville, the Ronald McDonald Houses of Chicago and Oak Lawn, Feed My Starving Children in Aurora, Bernie’s Book Bank in Lake Bluff, and the Chicago Park District.
